HOT Do we really have good walgreen employees anymore?

I read alot about how rude walgreen employees are and other stores employees ie Target,Rite-Aid,Walmart and such and I have been lucky to go to a walgreens that has great employees well except for one but I avoid her. Until yesterday. I actually visited two other Walgreens that I sometimes go to when I feel like traveling a few miles..Well when I was in the medicine isle which of course is towards the back of the store the manager and two other employees were back there.Doing god knows what (not working) I can tell you that when one of the employees was talking about a customer she had that day and her coupons how she had already rung her stuff up and the lady had said something to the fact that she had left out a few coupons or something to that affect and the walgreens employee was like I told her blah blah blah which that wasnt what she said but I actually cant remember what it was now..sorry and basically told her have a nice day and walked off..As she was explaining the story to the two other employees they were laughing it up Including the store manager. And of course I was standing there and I go nowhere without my binder so I had that with me and open so they could clearly see I was a couponer..I was p@@@@@ off to say the least. Last time I checked the manager was suppose to set rules and customer service standards for her employees right? We really need to do something about the poor customer service we get .Employees and manager still get a paycheck weather we use coupons or not. Something has to be done we need to figure it out..

I agree with you. I'll tell you about my WAGS experience over Thanksgiving time.

I was visiting family in the upperstate. I decided to hit up WAGS for deals that I thought were great (the $1/4 hydrogen peroxide, $.99/1 Reynolds foil, $4.99 pistaschios, $.99/1 oreos)...As I walked in the store I picked up the circular they had out. I said to myself "OMG they have 3pks of tape for .99/1 with a Limit of 3! I have to get some." I wanted to try out to see the difference in the purple package (said "wrapping" tape lol). Those were in the picture on the WAGS in store coupon so were they green package. I got 2 of the green ($3.99 each) and 1 purple ($5.29 for one).

Needless to say they were out of the peroxide & didn't even carry the 20 ft that was on the WAGS in ad coupon from down where I was from. So I got the pistachios, oreos, and tape and headed toward the register. I informed the cashier about my coupons and wanted to watch as she rang up each item to make sure that it was the correct price (they had already tathe ken down the sale signs for that week).

Then the cashier started to scan my coupons...as she dwindle down the small stack I had she commented on my bracelet (its the fishwire type ones that have gone out of style that looked like tatoos from afar)...She was saying how she wished she could find them still. I watched her PUT THE TAPE WAGS COUPON ASIDE like under the register away...I KNOW SHE DIDN't RINGING IT UP! My total was like $20.01 and I know that shouldn't have been right. So when I walked out of the store I was mad and was checking the receipt there was only 1 WAGS store coupon that I could tell that was scanned.

So I thought about it all the next day how I felt like I was cheated. I can remember thinking "Wow this is a great coupon and it runs out today..I'm definitely getting some for this good price"....but I was like I am usually and just thinking "Well I'll have just paid full price for tape and use it sparingly".....THEN I said to myself "No! I want my money back..not paying full price for this!"

I went back to the store and got my money back before I ventured back home. Can you guess how much it was?!?!? It was $14.xx (i don't remember change amount). Can you believe that? But the guy who gave me the refund was very nice and courteous.

okay sorry had to get that out...
but i know how you feel...i only go to WAGS b/c it is close to my home and I only have 1 prescription there and it is the cheapest to get it filled there.

It has to stop. I just cant figure out how. When a manager acts the way she did how can we expect employees to act right..

I have seen a shift in customer service in general recently, not just with coupons. My boyfriend stopped at McDonald's the other night when he knew I had a PTO meeting and we weren't going to eat together and when the teenage employee handed him his bag, she said, "Here's your swill."

I worked fast food as a teen - I would have been immediately fired for treating a customer like that.

And this is repeated often. Employees gathered in aisles talking about whatever they want in front of customers, being rude when checking a customer out, ruse service in fast food restaurants. And I have noticed it is more likely to happen with younger employees (not all of them of course, the young cashiers at my CVS are great) and seems to be a major attitude and repercussion shift in the last few years.

Well, I'm happy to report I've been having great experiences lately. I visited wags 3x--Sat/Sun/yesterday, after not having been there for months (maybe even years). Cashier recognized me, asked me how the 'baby' was, last time she saw me I was pg. He's 20m old now! Asked about my older son too and she remembered us.

I even had a nice cashier in Walmart last week. I was using up my Secret/Olay coupons for overage, and it beeped as usual. She looked at it, looked at my stuff, hit a button and it went through. She said "hey, if the machine's going to take it, I don't care, you gotta do whatchyougottado." CVS, Staples, Acme, they've all been very nice lately.

OP, I would write an email about your visit to Walgreens and how you were uncomfortable with them talking about a customer. It will get forwarded to the store manager and you will get a call.

I have a wonderful Wags, with an especially wonderful Cosmetics lady. I always check out with her. The manager is sometimes rude and I came home the other day and wrote an email about how great the BA was and how rude the manager was. The manager called me and apologised and now she speaks to me by name.

I have to say, I have great walgreen employers @ the 1 in town. They all know me by now, know I have coupons & that I'm on the up & up.

The Dollar General though, that's a different story. I won't step foot back in there unless it's an absolutely fabulous deal. I had an experience where the coupon beeped even though I was buying what it said, cashier told me I needed to start reading the fine print better-that I didn't know what I was doing (said it really loud in front of other customers). The other cashier started talking about me to another customer. I just thought that was plain rude, & I regret I held my tongue.

There's just something about Walgreens managers and cashiers. It seems that the cashiers have the power and the managers don't stand up to them.

I have had some wonderful cashiers at Walgreens lately. Two very nice ones on Black Friday and one today. Very accomodating with my coupons and very pleasant. Two were youngish cashiers at cosmetics and one was a much older lady with lots of make-up (I was kind of scared to get in her line) but she turned out to be very nice. They were all impressed with my coupon savings and were even talking about other customers and how much they saved and how there are blogs out there about using coupons.

I'll have to say, around here, they all seem to be very nice .... I would definitely call in to corporate and share about the unprofessionalism of the manager bad talking customers in front of other customers. That would be the best you can do. And keep going in and doing your deals. Who cares what they think...you're getting stuff free and that's all that matters in the end :)
    If it isn't free.....it isn't for me!
