This is a teacher who had a bad day and had to vent. I have had some of these thrown at me during my time. It is not the teacher blaming "parents". Just the one. And we have all had a rough parent or 2 just like parents have had a rough teacher or 2. I just think if we worked at realizing that we are all human, and the majority of people involved really want the best for the children in their care, it would work out. This comes from a parent and teacher.

I can completely see that.. I know there are days where I fuss and whine about the dogs I have had to deal with and how the owners need to teach the dogs manners etc.. But I love my job, even the bratty dogs

I am sure we have all done that.. Whether you are a teacher, groomer, cashier, receptionist, nurse...

I agree!! I have several family members who are teachers. They all love their job but there are always one or two kids every year who is a problem and when they try to reach out to the parents the parents do not want to hear it and put the blame soley on their teacher.

I can honestly say that I have never had any problems with any of my kids teachers. They have always been very accomodating. I recently had to contact my sons middle school teachers because I noticed a slight decline in his grades and that is very unusual for him. I found out that my DS has several of his close friends in his class and they have been very chatty and not paying attention. i nipped that in the bud right away. After several discussions with DS, last week was conference time and all 3 of his teachers said he had a big improvement and is now getting all A's. They thanked me and DH for our involvement.

I should have been more clear - in a situation without the level of parental involvement that my daughter is lucky to have, this would be a very serious problem. I faced it in school myself so it is familiar territory. My parents were not involved at all and I was left to boredom and lack of challenge for most of my education. Luckily I was driven enough to push a little, but I could have done more if my parents had been involved.

My DD could have been studying the 2nd grade words but was held back to stay at pace with the rest of the class.

This doesn't allow a child to excel in school - it guarantees that they will stagnate and become mediocre.
I've seen classes where students are treated differently because they are ahead when they are in the lower grades. I saw one case when my kids were younger when one child was singled out as being different because he read at an advanced rate[his mom was a teacher.] Eventually he acted out in a huge way at school and I could see his point of view. He wanted to be one of the crowd and school performance in the very early years mostly reflects parents teaching at home. I have also noticed that teachers usually start out motivated and loving what they do but burn out at some point. I think part of the problem is that the teacher teaches the same material year after year. They get bored. Most teachers don't want to switch around because it makes much more work for them. Just my opinion.

I wholeheartedly agree with the bold part below. Even when parents are very discreet and low-key about their kids being in the advanced classes the kids know and some of them start to rebel at being labeled this way. They don't want a "label" that makes them different.
