A degree should be able to help you acquire a job that will afford your students loans you incurred getting said degree.
She couldn't even move out of my parents house on that much of a wage. Not to mention how much of that wage ended up going right back into her room.
If I was going to aim at an amount. I personally would not put that much work, that much of my time and that much of my money into a degree that didn't at least start in the 40K ish range.
I could work a job with no education needed...and get up to $12 an hour rather fast...and be off better because I didn't have tons of student loan debt.
This is actually one of the problems our country is facing currently...is kids are graduating from high school..and seeing such a bleak job market....they are choosing to just forgo going to school. If all your gonna be able to get is a $12 an hour job...might as well do it without debt in the process.

there was a more recent article...but this is the one I could find quickly.
It cannot possibly be better for our country long term...to have more and more choose not to go and get a degree. We should not reward hard work/4 plus years of there time/ and student loans they can't pay on with a wage that won't even pay there basic necessities and student loans.

As for the crap wages. There is a big difference in paying someone a crap wage...for work that does not involve needing a degree vs someone that does.
Waitress vs School teacher is both hard work. The Waitress doesn't have to go to school for 4 plus years, student teach, get said degree, pay for said degree and then hand some of her income to her customers because they need forks and spoons to eat from.
