How much for High School lunch?

Ok my oldest lived with his dad and was here only like 2 days a week but sometimes more. I knew that life there was not what it should be but he chose to live there at 14 for his Dad promised him a new car when he truned 16 and he pretty much got to do what he wantted to.

There is alot more to the story but I will just get the point about the lunch money. MY son came back here to live with me this week and I found out that his dad was only giving him $9 a week to eat on and that on two days a school wek he went without food & drink all day long at school and another day he had only a drink. His dad was telling me that he gave him $25 a week to eat on and Rusty(my son) was not saying anything different(he knew I would blow up). His brother in grade school has to have $18 a week so I know there is no way $9 is near enough, it would not have been when I was in high school in the 80's...its not like grade school they dont let you charge anything and the parents send a check to pay it onice a week or month. He was keeping his mouth shut in hopes of his new truck and being able to do pretty much whatever.(who could blame him we all were Teens at one time) but things just got to far out of hand this week and he decided it was not worth it.(lots more going on there)...................my son was 16 this past june. His dad says that he is telling lies but I know better I would be on the cell phone and hear things going on there and I know how it was the 12 years I was with him.

So how much lunch money should he have a day?

School lunch here is 3.00 per day in the high school.

Here they can pick from different items and each item has a different price, its not liek grade school where they have one meat and vegys and you get some of it all.

Our basic secondary school lunch is $2.35 per day. My kid takes her lunch more often than not. Last year, when I had 2 in school, we qualified for reduced price lunch, so DS ate at school everyday, but he did say that it wasn't really enough for him to eat--I don't see how a teenage boy could get by on $9 unless he was taking a snack or lunch. I'm guessing our lunches are on the low end of cost--you should be able to find out how much lunches are on your district or school's website. We have electronic payment accounts, I can even go on and see what my daughter gets to eat.

In high school they have a la carte stuff. My daughter usually gets a chicken sandwich and french fries for about $3. She just takes water so she doesn't buy a drink, but she takes her lunch 4 days out of 5. Much cheaper.

Being a boy he is not 'in' to taking his lunch..

He likes to get pizza(2 if he can) and a drink or a sandwich such as BBQ,buger,or chicken and chips. He like HOT meal stuff better than cold cut stuff.

My son is 6'3 and 160 so he needs to eat.

Does your school district have a website w/ a lunch menu on it? It should tell you what the cost of the meals and extras are.

Ours are $1.60/lunch. $1 for breakfast. Ala carte items are like $.25-$.75 each. So w/ lunch only it will be $8.30/week.
