Unfortunately, by not having a subscription, you are not guaranteed to get the inserts in your papers. Only subscribers get that benefit. If the paper doesn't care that the papers don't have inserts for whatever reason, I'd buy a new paper.
I drive a distance each week to purchase multiple copies of the AJC, since I live out of the metro area. In the past, the issues may have been missing a coupon section or so, but the occurances are getting to be chronic and growing. Two weeks ago it was Red Plum-not one to be found anywhere, and the issue is the same this week.
I've tried complaining to the store, the subcription service section of the AJC, and the editor of the AJC, and nothing is helping. I don't think this is is random occurance-it's organized theft of a marketable commodity.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what can be done to stop this? Thanks in advance for your advice!

A lot of papers will let you subscribe for less than the whole week and I've heard that you can even order multiple copies of the paper at a reduced price. You might check that out for Sundays especially if you can get a new subscriber special.

Hey OP there was another thread about this issue with the AJC. There are alot of us getting shorted every week. It really boils down to rolling the dice, or actually going through each and every newspaper before you leave the store. That only helps sometimes though because we have been known to get the insert but half of it will be missing. There are many of us who feel your pain :(

As pp have said, newspapers only guarantee coupons to home delivery customers. My friend works at a newspaper and my neighbor's daughter delivers papers so they gave me the scoop. If they are short on inserts, the store and newsstand copies don't get them. I get the paper here at home, but when I buy extras at the store I ALWAYS check the paper to make sure the coupons are in it. I also always do it right in front of the clerk because a friend of mine was accused of stealing coupons in her grocery because she looked through her papers in the produce section. They thought she was putting them in her binder and not paying. She wasn't, but I don't need drama from rogue cashiers.![]()

yep, you're not alone, i go to a variety of area's.. doesn't matter..
somewhere, some of the sections of Q's are always missing..
its very frustrating and forget us, getting Red Plum.. grr.
ohh yeah, my friend subscribes.. and no coupons.. they said, they'd give her 50 cents.. yep.. 50 cents.. that it!
So i don't know about any guarantees, for home deliveries..
tho, it makes more sense, that people who do subscribe, would get
first dibs, on Q's..
I buy three double papers (AJC) every week from Publix. So far I have been lucky with getting all of the inserts. but I also will make sure they are all in the paper before I leave the store.
I also buy the double papers each week from Publix and have never had a problem. But like bzzlady, I check before I leave the store.
One weekend I received no coupons when I knew there were inserts. They told me they don't redeliver coupons because people lie about not getting them. All I had to say was: "Well, my subscription will be expiring soon and I'm not sure that I'm going to renew..." 30 minutes later I had my coupon inserts delivered.Newspapers are hard up for business and want to keep subscribers, even if they only get the paper for the coupons.
