Re: Remembering 9/11
I was at home...turned the TV on right before the second tower hit...listening the the Today Show folk realize that this was a terrorist attack is something I will not forget...and we all watched from a distance the first tower fall...and not exactly sure what we had seen yet...but we knew it was bad...very bad.
It's very strange to witness news like that...when your experiencing it with the commentators live and they don't know much more than you about what is happening.
I went into work very late..because I couldn't stop watching..and at work all we did was watch it too. Eventually went grocery shopping and they had it on the loud speakers and every TV they had in the place as well (which was bizarre really).
I video taped much of that day...to show my kids (before the days of you tube lol) and maybe today would be a good time to show my oldest.

I do remember it too. I was in English class senior year, taking a test. Well everything stopped and we watched the news for the rest of the day. One girl in my class had an uncle and aunt that worked there.
My children were not here then so they have only known what I have said to them, because it now affects their lives every day.

Re: Remembering 9/11
I was in my sixth grade classroom on the third floor in Brooklyn. It was one of the first days of school so it was a pretty slow morning. One of the school Aids came to the room at 9:15 for a child that was going home...which was odd since he had just gotten to school. She came back two more times, so I finally asked if there was something going on? She said" You don't know?" I said "Know what...I'm up here in this classroom with no connection to the outside"...
So she told me...I was frantic...my husband (boyfriend at the time) occasionally worked there. I jumped on the internet to get news broadcast of the event.......
I gave up my preps and lunch to help in the office....so many parents were coming to get their children.......I was calling my boyfriend just trying to get some idea where he was/was working......finally mother got in touch with him.
A teacher in our school did lose her only son that day. They decided to go to the roof figuring they would be safe.
We never thought to look out the window from which you could see the twin towers.

Re: Remembering 9/11
I was at work. We never heard anything on the radio we were listening to. We found out from the carriers coming in. So,we changed stations and found out about the towers and that a plane had just gone down in PA somewhere. Little did we know then that (by air) it didn't go down all that far from us. I have not yet been to the memorial but we hope to go here soon.
