Default SIL posting pics of her ds, 7, in his underwear on FB journaling his weightloss

My sil sells weightloss products and is using pictures of my nephew to promote her product. My nephew, who is 7, is a bit on the chubby side but he's healthy and active. I can understand her concern for childhood obesity, but I think putting him on a diet is a little extreme right now... I knew kids that were a bit chunky when younger and then went through major growth spurts and became bean poles. Let alone taking pictures of the process. IMO that's one way to start all kinds of body issues as he gets older.

two huge thumbs down for any pics of kids that are: 1. less than fully dressed 2. to show their weight (whether it be high or low) and worse of all on FACEBOOK. Major unlike.

There's just too much going on that is wrong in this picture.

#1 my ds8 is overweight. He would not go on a diet. PERIOD. We discuss eating habits and making healthy choices but diet. PUH-LEEZE

#2 documenting weight loss in a child WRONG. Here's when johnny was fat, here he is not as fat. degrading.

#3 using her child to promote a business? WRONG

#4 does her child use this product? is it ok for children, totally rhetorical.

#5 posting anything that would make a child feel bad about themselves on FACEBOOK for their whole world to see? how degrading.

#6 pictures in his underwear, i mean really how degrading is she trying to be?

Your sil is being a real donkey.

Sounds like she is just doing it to promote some home-business crock and drum up customers. Low, low, low.

That is really really sad! I feel sorry for the child- in my opinion this is borderline abuse.

I want to say something to her about it, but dh asked me to leave it alone (it's his side of the family). I'm glad i'm not the only one who finds this disturbing. She's getting nothing but positive feedback from her FB friends :(.

I don't think she should be posting the pictures of her child on Facebook...... However, on the diet thing - is she putting her child on a diet or making him eat healthier? What I mean is - is she not allowing him to eat sweets and junk food but lets him eat all the vegetables and healthy stuff that he wants - cause I don't think anything is wrong with cutting out the junk food and the unhealthy food, even if he is 7, as long as she is fixing him healthy nutritious meals that he can eat plenty of. I think it's good to start at a young age - of the fruits, vegetables, salads - so the kids will grow up liking those items instead of being addicted to soda & candy and junk food.

What product is this she is promoting? She is giving it to her son? I'd report her to CPS, plain and simple. I'm pretty sure those things can't be given to children. Hubby doesn't have to know you reported her either.
