Default A thank you would be nice

I collect coupons and match ads, the same as almost everyone. I keep all the coupons and give out baby and food coupons to people who don't have them or don't want to do the "coupon thing.
I gave away a envelope full of $1-$3.50 baby coupons and never even got thank you. I asked if they used any and was told well I don't know, I don't remember...

I also gave a full envie to someone I know that eats out a lot.. 3 weeks later, not even a response, email, or a thank you.

I don't get it..... it's free to them, I've bought, cut, organized and gave them away and it's like nothing.. why aren't people thankful? I sure would be.

This isn't really a rant.. but I just don't "get" it...

I find the more you do for people the higher up on their fecal roster you get. So I quit, don't care if it's a good friend, acquaintance, well you get the picture, I always seem to get pooped on. I say, "let them pay full price".

Though I was raised to thank people for everything that was given to me whether I asked for it or not, now days most people aren't raised with the same common sense and decency. My philosophy when I send out RAOK's: I kiss them good-bye, wish them well on their travels, prayer they make it, and that they are used to their fullest. I don't expect anything back including a thank you b/c I got my reward when I chose to give them away.

I am not saying you have strings attached or aren't due a thank you. A thank you is most appropiate but I don't expect one from most people. If you are wanting a thank you from everyone then you are setting yourself up to be disappointed. If you are like me, life is too short to sweat the small stuff. As others posted, stop giving them away and trade here or give them away and know you most likely won't get any thanks. But the reward is yours for doing a kind favor.

That's the problem right there. If someone doesn't do the coupon thing, they most likely won't appreciate it.

I also don't get the bad manners thing. I always say "thank you" immediately upon someone handing me something. So unless these were mailed or left or not given directly, I don't see why someone wouldn't say, "Thank you."
It's 35 cents off of ground round,
    Baby, cut that coupon out!

couponsmakecents is right but still, it's nice to get a little nod of appreciation for a good deed.

Also in the "no thanks" department these 2 irritate me a bit to have no acknowledgment.

    1. When you let someone go in front of you in the check-out line because they have fewer things and they don't even give you a smile! It seems like men, especially, almost act as if it was due them.

    2. When you are in your car and you let someone go in front - no wave of thanks, no smile, nothing! Pfffft!

You should get a thank you whether they 'get' it or not, but a lot of people think that if something is free it has no value.

Ann Landers and Dear Abby would both tell you that if you give something to someone else who doesn't bother to say thank you, you only have yourself to blame if you continue to do it.

Write them off and move on.

I've sent baby coupons to a member here, went out of my way to ask if that person if he/she could use it bc I knew he/she had a kid. I clipped it, mailed it and never heard a word back about it. Not the most pleasant experience.

MyTWO YEAR OLD says thank you to EVERYONE. We were out to dinner with my in-laws and when the waitress came by with refills, my DD said thank you. My FIL was stunned. When we go thru a drive thru, she yells thank you from the back seat. Amazes me some adults don't get this concept.
