my store does that too.... and whoever processes the meat is really bad at it lol!
Sorry about your pork chops, that would be really sad news around here since we all love pork chops!
I had a package of pork chops to cook yesterday - they were "sirloin" chops and they looked gorgeous from what I could see. Well I open them up and it's only parts of a couple that look good - the rest of them are PATHETIC looking, cut unevenly, small irregular pieces barely hanging on. They just had the crummy looking parts hidden.
I've also opened packages of chicken before and found about 1/4 pound of fat/skin tucked under the pieces instead of being trimmed off. Yeah I like paying for that!
I know they have to package the meat attractively but do they have to be dishonest about it???

Thats awful. I actually have taken a package of steaks back. On the top was this beautiful meat color and on the underside was all fat. Oh man was I ticked. The grocery store took them back.

Happens here too. Gobs of chix skin tucked underneath and its frustrating to pay for some part you will just throw away. (especially when buying boneless skinless chix!)
Absolutely oceanbreeze!!

I am sorry this happened to you. I had bought hamburger meat before and had it look pretty on the outside. But then you pull it apart and the inside was brown. They were trying to hide the fact that some of it was spoiled. I brought it back and had to fight to get my money back. The butcher said it was fine, just grayish black in color. No I don't think it was fine, I wasn't going to eat it.
Please pray for my family.

I really hate the fact that I'm about to agree with a butcher in this particular thread (lol), but he was right. They add stuff to make the outside pinkish in color. It's fine for consumption unless it has a rancid smell. They probably wouldn't sell much hamburger meat if they didn't add that.
I have a store here that doesn't add it to some of their huge tubes of meat & it turns rather quickly, but it's still good.![]()

The same with steaks, my Mom works at a Hyvee( in the floral dept. she is 78) and they sell their employess what they call the dark steaks for a little bit of nothing. She gets great big T-bones all the time for two or three dollars. They are perfectly fine to eat, they just turn brown from sitting under the lights in the display case.
However, ITA with the OP. That would be very frustrating.
Raising children(especially teens) is like being pecked to death by a chicken
In my defense, I will only bid human beings in the auction forum if it's a MM.
What meggers and the butcher said are true Shelley but once you've lost your appetite for something there's no going back!

I hate issue too! I love my local HT though because they mark down meat regularly at night and I use WT's to sweeten the deal. I have never had a bad cut of meat at that store. I avoid WM hamburger meat after me and DH got sick one time on it. It's probably fine to buy meat there but I just can't buy anymore after that bad experience.
I had sanity once upon a time I promise. It was just so long agoooo that I can't remember it
