For me, I usually find the 'extra' with chicken; however, the worst I'd ever seen was with hamburger. I purchased a 3 lb package of hamburger, got it home to break it apart to freeze in smaller sizes and found that the butcher had placed about 2lbs of solid fat on the tray and built hamburger up around it. I flipped out, put my two toddler kids back into the car, drove to the store and spoke with the owner. (small town) He didn't seem surprised, but told me to go back to the meat department and find the largest package of ground beef I could find and take that home.
