I spoke up for my son when he was on the football team with clueless coaches and afterwards I wish I never had because they took it really personally and then held it against my son. My problem during that season of football is they were playing my son only on defense. He likes to play both but he is thin and tall and had been playing quarterback and wide receiver in the years prior. So I had mentioned to the coaches that my son preferred playing offense and he did not care what position he had but would like some offensive playing time. After the talk the coaches did nothing about it. The next year I requested that he not be placed on the same team and he was put on a great team with coaches who did not play favorites with their own son and son's friends.

That happens in every sport in every town. Coaches volunteer and it's really hard to get parents to volunteer to do anything, so most organizations do what it takes to keep them happy.{I volunteer to coordinate the concessions schedule for my daughters soccer and trust me, it's the same handful of parents that will agree to work every week..I still call every parent on the list each week.}30 years ago when my uncle coached for girls softball he was asked if he wanted his daughter on All-Stars....my cousin gawd love her, she was the worst softball player in the league. She couldn't run , hit , catch, or throw. He looked at them like they were nuts and said no thanks, I think she's done for the season. Most coaches{dads} don't have that kind of integrity and really don't see the harm in what they're doing.

Each team has its own coach. As far as the conssessions go the home playing team is responsible each week it is split up beetween the parents there is an assigned schedule so we all have to do it or find coverage.

It just worked out our sons team seemed was pretty much fixed since the opening day you could tell who they favored and not. My son can catch very well would have made a great base player. They put him right or left field when he would be in playing the game. He even told the coach he would like to play the bases. The kept the same kids the same places just about every game. I don't want to critisize other kids but they just weren't catching the balls on the bases. They never really game our son a chance. It seems it was more about playing the coaches sons friends and coaches friends kids thank anything. Coache gave me lots of lame excuses why he wasn't playing our son. Not many were true. I will admit ds would back out of the batters box different times moving from a ball he thoought was too close to him.
Last night a kid called my ds and asked him why he quit the team and ds told him my my decided not to let me play anymore. I would rather it be known that than him being a quitter.

Today Dh went online and order ds a really cool pitching machine. It will give in lots of time to practice catching and hitting. We live just down the road from a base ball field that was donated to use of the little league association so we will use it. I will have him set up play dates with friends this sumer and they can all have a good time. We really need to encourge our kids. I know my son hs what it takes to be a good ball player. I am still trying to get the presidents number to make sure me pulling him out the year will not effect him getting to play next year. I will let him know we would like him on another team. It never helped matters that the coaches son and my son don't get along in school either.
