We don't know the reason she was walking this route, the exact location on the road, or what conditions led the driver to hit her.
And there's a reason that there are personal injury lawyers that specialize in pedestrian/driver cases, because people DO get hit by cars and sue. It's not anything new or "frivilous". The extreme situation might be her suing google, but if she feels that they were negligent and it led to her accident, then she does have the right to cite them. The driver is also cited, so it's not like she's placing full blame on google. The oddity is just her decision to sue them as well. If google wasn't mentioned, then this would just be any other lawsuit and wouldn't have made news, and no one would question her decision to sue the driver. She's only being criticized for including google in her lawsuit.
