Oh my goodness. I hope they get their act together because my sister asked me to take her there for her 13th birthday --- and it's expensive, that's why we haven't been there in 2 years!
So, we decided we would go to Six Flags this weekend. DD (3 yo) has demonstarted that she really likes amusement parks. We were very excited because they were highly advertising the fact that they were opening the new Thomas the Tank Engine area... soo DD was very excited. Guess what - Thomas doesn't open until later in the season!!! Gee... nothing on their website mentions that it doesn't open until later in the season. Needless to say DD was very very disappointed. Kept asking where Thomas was. And, they even have Sir Toppamhat as one of the characters walking around!?!?! :shrug7:
SEVERAL of the rides were broken down - log flume, two coasters, tower drop, and I thnk at least one other one.
It took our friends about 10 minutes to get a funnel cake, and it took about 20 minutes to get our lunch because the people were just so clueless. I understand that it's the beginning of the season, and the employees are new, but they could have at least had SOME training.
They have signs everywhere about getting a 5% discount by using your discover card. Our friends have one and were using it, but NO ONE knew how to actually work the cash register enough to even do that. Not even the manager in the gift shop knew how to do it... :shrug7:so it took 10 minutes for them to check out.
ok, and the gift shop... they had Disney merchandise in there!?!?!:shrug7: SEROUSLY!!! YOU GUYS AREN'T DISNEY!!!! DON'T EVEN PRETEND THAT YOU COME CLOSE. Granted most of the merchandise was the Bugs/Thomas/Marvel Comics, but there were several sections of Disney.
And, yes, I know, we are a Disney family, and so we are a little biased... but that park was just SOOOOOOO RUN DOWN AND GROSS!!! It's the little things, people!Thankfully the bathroom was nice and clean. I will give them that!
We will NEVER go back there again!
Oops... sorry - you exceeded the limit of my attention span!
Bye Mom... I love you, and will miss ya. 4/5/11

Oh no :( we are looking to go there this year! (hi melli!! LOL)
Thomas area!?!? when does it open?
I can't wait to go (if we get to go)
Sounds like Kings Island on opening day. IT was a sad sad sad site :(
Don't know exactly when it will open. They were still building the buildings (currently putting up the frames and plywood... one building was getting the brick facade). Nowhere near done. I am guesssing the end of June.

Manders - I despise Thomas. Are you going to make me visit Thomas? Oh my goodness... only for you.... but never again. LOL!!!
I remember going to Astroworld in Houston many years ago (it's been closed for years now) in the fall and was shocked to see how many of the shows/rides were closed, again with NO mention anywhere of this.
Bottom line, those places don't give a rat's rear whether a customer is happy.

SIx Flags in California is a similar experience - the park is in deep need of maintenance.
Six Flags has been circling the drain for a while now. I remember going at age 11 or 12 (back in probably 94) and being disappointed. I can design better parks in Roller Coaster Tycoon.
That said, what is a Disney family?
Families that mainly visit Disney parks. Once you go there, unfortunately everything else is just left in the dust for most people. You get high expectations.
