I'm sorryto here about the OP's experience. Fortunately, the DFW one in Arlington, Texas is great as ever. I loved it a a kid, my kids loved it when they were growing up, and my grandkids love it now. Safe, clean, and the rides are always running. The staff is also always great. Our favorite time is in the fall/winter though, for frightfest and holiday in the park. The prices are great too. Although expenive, the season pass is about 50% of the cost of a one day ticket to either of the Disneys, and you're not limited to having to fly half across the country to go.

Six Flags has been in trouble, especially financial, for quite some time. If one watches the news, it is well known, and same can be garnered from a simple internet search (there are detailed internet threads about this particular location).

However, you are incorrect in the statement that nothing on the website states that the Thomas area wasn't open yet. Kids' Rides: Six Flags America Clear as day, it is opening this summer. We're not in the summer season yet, not even close, hence why it isn't open yet. Usually when a new area or ride is open, there are incessant TV ads that state the area is now open--after a barrage of advertising about the coming attraction.
I know that Six Flags is in financial trouble. That doesn't mean that they shouldn't train their employees, or properly advertise things.

As far as the the summer thing... they list all the rides in Thomas town as being available, but everything in Hurricane Harbor says that it doesn't open until Labor Day - why not clarify that the Thomas area rides aren't going to open until June or whenever it is actually going to open? All the advertising stuff (coupons and such at Wendy's or wherever, which is where we got the idea) have pictures of Thomas on them, and talk about visiting Thomas town. Those coupons didn't even say "Summer 2010" at all, just said Thomas is there. At best, it's bad planning to not list that that area doesn't open until June... at worst - false advertisement. We weren't the only family there that felt they had been misled by the website/advertisement. I ran into another family in the Looney Tunes movie area where the mother was speaking with the General Manager. I just happened to overhear him saying that he will introduce them to Sir Topphamhat, so i said something to the mom about it as they were walking off. She confirmed that they were also misled.

And, you should really try to remove that chip on your shoulder... it could make for a very uncomfortable life.
Oops... sorry - you exceeded the limit of my attention span!

Bye Mom... I love you, and will miss ya. 4/5/11

I grew up in Pg county and it does have a bad reputation-but I can say the one time I went to SIx flags(the last for sure) there was a stabbing in the parking lot and the next time I was in the area-just across the street there was a shooting in the parking lot. Coincidence that it happens 2 times in the span of say 5 years on the same days I am there or could it be a dangerous area? When I lived in Pg county we would walk from friends houses to Wild world and never thought twice about it-times have changed and so has the park, it is run down and poorly managed.

Hubs and I bought $50 season passes a few years ago. After spending one horrible afternoon in the waterpark, we never went back. This place is dirty, staffed with kids with bad 'tude, falling apart, and frequented by gangbangers. Really- how many other amusement parks do you know of that have signs out front saying no gang colors?

I've been to portable carnivals that had more class.

What is the scariest part is that if the park isn't getting general maintenance, the employees are untrained etc... you have to just KNOW the rides aren't being maintained either.

well, lets see... I know countless neighbors who are too afraid to go to Six Flags America and they even had season passes, but with all the muggings and car thefts and general unsavory characters, they said no more.

How is that sterotyping, prejudicial or racial profiling if its the truth! I know PG county cops who will NOT let their children go there. What does that tell you.

    Sorry Julie,

I was responding to your response to Liz.

Since its HUTC, I'll just come out and say it was stereotyping. There, I said it. So sorry to actually speak the truth as miserable as that may be.
