    Default Wedding Rant

I just got the invitation for my husbands friends wedding in the mail. First off I am not trying to sound mean because I have no problem with making your own to save a buck, but the invitations looked like they weren't even trying to cut strait (But whatever). What irked me is that there was no stamp on the resonse card and there was a note in the invitation that they were asking for either gift cards or cash! Whoa! Talk about rude. I know they were thinking they weren't paying for the extra stamps because it would get "too expensive". well, it wouldn't get so expensive if you didn't invite everyone you'd ever seen in your life. They are inviting my parents and they have only ever met them one time like 2 years ago- I know they are just doing it to make money.

Maybe you should get them a book on social etiquette as a wedding present? sounds like they could use it

That would be so funny. I joked with DH that it would be funny to get them a Rite Ais gift card because they think I'm silly for couponing there so much- but I wouldn't want to part with one, lol. I know it sounds catty because we probably would have given them money anyway but that they are so rude about it makes me want to give them something else... I have a problem with being spiteful.

Oh it annoys me when people put what they are wanting in there wedding invitation...and I automatically get the complete opposite when they do.

I be honest here, I dont see the Problem with telling People what you would like for your Wedding, as for us we already had everything and really just wanted Money and we put that on the Invite in a polite way. Noone had a Problem with that.

As for the inviting People they hardly know ....... I dont know sometimes People just like a BIG Wedding....to have fun. We had a lot of People I never knew before my Wedding but my Husband knew... ?

And what is the Point of getting the Opposit of what a Person is asking for? to me thats rude and honestly I would have been pissed as that is wasting my Time to return the item I did not ask for or need.
Do you do this for Baby Showers as well..... lets say I ask for a GIRLS outfit will you get a BOYS outfit? lol

Glad our FRIENDS listend to OUR requests.... :)

Anybody from the Old School, will tell you that asking for gifts in, on, or near a wedding invitation is majorly tacky. I cannot even begin to address the boldness of asking for money outright. The idea is we invite people with whom we would like to share the happy moment, not invite as many people as possible to make the event pay or be paid for.

    I totally agree with Imcconne.
A registry can be used as a guide - for color scheme, style preference, etc....when when did it become mandatory that people had to only buy what was on some list? A gift is just that - a GIFT!
