I'm angry that the kids with learning disabilities were at the "fake" prom (whatever you want to call it), too. Why can't they go to the real prom? It sounds like the parents decided to do that, not the school; like the parents thought their kids with disabilities needed a special, separate prom? That's sad. The whole situation is sad.

Wow, that is so mean. It's bad enough kids have to deal with the cruelty of children, they have to take this crap from parents too? Whether or not you agree with her lifestyle, it doesn't give you the right to be cruel and exclude children. At my sisters prom, there was a kid that dressed up a blow-up sex doll. No one told him he couldn't...my sister still has the pictures lol

What the parents taught there kids...is it's fine to set up a little "separate but equal" prom....gag.
The supposed "fake prom" was chaperoned by the school principal and teachers, so sounds like the school was involved with that "prom". The other one was organized by parents and it's their right to do that if they wish. Students aren't REQUIRED to attend school prom, and if the students and parents wanted to organize their own festivity, so be it. If the lesbian had decided to have her own "gay prom", people would be cheering her on. Why did she have to go to the school and tell them her prom plans anyway? She and her "date" could have just showed up like they were attending solo and then danced together. If the school discriminated against her THEN she could have went public with the story. Sounds like she was just trying to get attention/publicity.

How do you know that's the case? Maybe the kids with disabilities went because they knew others were boycotting and they CHOSE to go to the school prom to support the lesbian. There were other kids that went to the school prom that weren't learning disabled as well, and maybe there were learning disabled kids at the parent sponsored prom. You don't know the full story.

Yes, gay people have historically been embraced and treated so well in this country. I can see why they'd want to flaunt that and draw unnecessary attention to themselves.

Um the school canceled the first prom because she wanted to attend with a date..... how in the world is that not discrimination?

Well, if you're going to insist it's about who's got the right to do what, it's well within the girl's rights to make a fuss because the school wouldn't let her attend the prom with the date of her choice.

Did she announce to teachers, etc. before the original prom who she was planning on going to the prom with? Nobody else probably did. I know when I went to my prom I didn't discuss who I was planning on bringing.
