Default Rep. Dingell: It's taken a long time to 'control the people'

The comment by Dingell begins at the 6 minutes 23 seconds mark.

"The harsh fact of the matter is when you're going to pass legislation that will cover 300 [million] American people in different ways it takes a long time to do the necessary administrative steps that have to be taken to put the legislation together to control the people."

    Freedom....being usurped.

Yeah, and check out this other "out of context" remark, this time from the Right Reverend Al--

REV. AL SHARPTON, CIVIL RIGHTS LEADER: I think that this is — began to transform the country the way the president had promised. This is what he ran on.
GERALDO RIVERA, FOX NEWS ANCHOR: Some argue to socialism.
SHARPTON: Well, first of all, then we'd have to say that the American public overwhelmingly voted for socialism when they elected President Obama.
Thanks for setting the record straight! I think someone around here has been pointing this out all along!

How exactly is that "out of context"? Did you listen to the audio? I did. I also listened for a couple of minutes AFTER and BEFORE that spot.

Well, you've been around enough to know that's the typical response--to shout "out of context" and then scurry away without bothering to explain the context. I admit, I have occasionally pointed out when something was taken out of context myself. And then I back it up by actually explaining the context. It really does add a lot to the debate!

In exactly what context would it ever be acceptable for a elected official to utter the words ~ to control the people ~

when disagreement was expressed that president’s actions when y’all were in power I believe the response was “why do you hate America?” “Watch what you say” “Take it or leave it”…. Pace your rage
