I think the teacher is the "LOSER". What a poor negative way to treat kids!
I had sanity once upon a time I promise. It was just so long agoooo that I can't remember it
.
I think if a teacher said that about one of my kids he/she would have the word permanently tattooed upside their head.

Poor kid. That teacher needs something!
In 9th grade, our English teacher gave us an assignment to write an essay for a contest about who needs a vacation the most. I wrote mine about our rough year. She put on it "Looks like what this family needs is counseling!" That was totally uncalled for! My mom called her out on it, and the teacher made a big to-do in the class about how we can't do writing contests anymore because of how parents react. Whatever. It was not the teacher's place to say things like that.
And this teacher is even more wrong than that. Stuff like putting "loser" on the paper could scar the poor kid. I hope she/he is severely punished.
I did not read the article, but in college a grader of one of my math classes did the same sort of thing. He/She would write things along the lines of telling us we were stupid because we could get the problem right. I finally told the instructor. Needless to say, the person was fired. But still we couldn't believe the harassment we were getting.
Some people should never be teachers. Some teachers should retire instead of staying on trying to increase their pensions...........I've met both in my lifetime and they do make a lasting impression on kids.
Now, on the bright side, if you want to read a GREAT book about a teacher, I just finished reading it on Kindle. It's a book in email format from a male teacher to a former co-worker. The male teacher had been laid off by the firm he worked for, he was an engineer. He went back to school to get his teaching certification and ended up teaching 3rd grade Math and Science. Absolutely hysterical! The ending I won't give away, but it will make you smile.
The title of the book is Learn Me Good, author is John Pearson.
Never laughed out loud so much reading a book as I did this one!

Saving money ~ it's a way of life, not an attitude
Totally inappropriate for a 6th grader.

When I was in third grade I was really struggling in school basically failing, my grandfather who was a special ed proffessor suggested that my mother ask the school to test me for learning disablities. I remember sitting in principal's office with my mom. He looked at her, looked at me then told my mom "She doesn't have a learning disablity. She's just STUPID". I was eight. I am 34 now and I can remember it like it was yestarday. Needless to say my mom was mad. My grandfather tested me himself and I have a mild form of dyslexia. I repeated the third grade.
I don't think teachers and held accountable like they were in say our parents generation. Needless to say my treatment in public school was a HUGE factor as to why I homeschool my children. My son learns alot like me. He would not make it in public school. Or I would get a note sent home suggesting I get him on some drug.
I think the teacher in the article need to be suspended and need a refresher course on how to treat young people.

I can't help but think, that if it was another student that wrote derogatory statements on the child's work, that the other student would be charged with bullying and dealt with appropriately. Why is it ok for a grown man to bully but not the kids? oh thaaats right...it isn't ok!
