Talk about a waste of money - US Census Letter in the mail today

I guess not very HUTC, but....

I got a letter in the mail today from the US Census Bureau telling me that in about 10 days I will receive the census questionnaire and reminding me that it is important to fill it out and return it.....

Why waste the money on the paper, envelopes, ink, postage, time and energy to print, stuff, mail, plus the energy at the post office to sort and deliver for such a ridiculous letter. When I get the questionnaire, I bet it will tell me that it is important for me to return, so why bother with this letter???

LOL I got the same one. Last week, I got a letter from my child's school (I got two because I have two kids that go there) and before that there were people handing them out at the library.

How about you just send me the census and stamp HEY! IMPORTANT! on the front if it makes you feel better.

I got the same letter today and thought what a waste of our money! Really?? You have to warn me about getting the census form? Government idiots at work again!:shrug7:

I don't think its so bad... some people really don't have any clue about the census... ANd YES...it is really important to fill out... THis gives them a heads up, a chance to look into it, before just tossing it in the trash.

Remember this only happens every 10 years. Not everyone are news/political junkies like us :)

My MIL didn't know anything about the census until I explained it to her... What she's done with the form for the last 800 years is a mystery.

The letter she got in the mail today at least gave her some idea (other than from me) about what it is, why it is, etc... and please look for it and don't throw it in the junk mail pile. Sure, she might have thrown the letter in the junk mail pile anyway... but prob not twice.

Seriously... lets find something *useful* worry about.
