It's on Kempwood/Gessner, some of the people there including the manager can be a pain just rude for no reason. The last time that the $10 RR was printing for the bayer meters the manager got so mad and told my SIL how he hated those darn pieces of papers. I haven't been to that store since the last time that we were getting the Garnier for free, the girl was so mad and then laughed and told me that there was no way I was getting anything for free. I told her that's ok I can go to any other WAGS you're not the only store in Houston and just smiled at her, and I have never been to that store since.

Yeah, I'd love to know what Catalina thinks about this too!

Regarding the "under the radar" technique- I've said it before and will say it again- I do multiple transaction all the time, and my store knows what I'm doing. I share my deals and I am always giving coupons and products to the staff there. They love me. As long as you have a good store and you're not shelf-clearing 30 of one item (I ask my store to order me anything I want more than 5 of), I don't see a thing wrong with doing 30 transactions at once. I do it quite often. The benefit is that when I have a coupon that will give me overage- the register beeps and they push it through b/c they know I'm a legit/honest coupon user and would never ask them to do something illegal or against the coupon rules.

Yes, some stores are a huge pain in the rear and if you've got no other choice, you may have to do a little of incognito shopping, but with a good store, it's not necessary.

Regarding the OP's issue, here's MY problem with this- RR's are manufacturer coupons. We get this all the time, which is why we have to have fillers. So if it's a mq, it's just like cash! The store is reimbursed full face value. There is no reason they should say you can't get an rr if you pay with a rr. That is ridiculous.

Sounds like the manager is uneducated about RRs and coupons. He must think that if you pay with RRs then he loses money. I guess he doesn't realize that he will get full reimbursement for those RRs.

See, that's a perfect example of people not understanding what coupons ARE. You're not getting something for free. You're paying for it. With coupons. Which are promissory notes the store will get reimbursed for - full face value. Just like paying with a credit card, or a check.
You buy your coupons in your Sunday paper and they are your property, they weren't free for you. You spend money on ink and paper to print them from the internet and you spend a lot of TIME to put together your weekly shopping trip. You're not getting it for free. You're paying for it just like the next person. Coupons ARE money. And I am SO SICK of stores not getting it!!

*stepping down* sorry. This is just really a hot topic around me right now and I am severely over it.

Wow. I had same problem today too. I don't usually shop at the Perth Amboy, NJ store. Today I bought Dave Men's BW and then I paid with $5.00 cat and the Cat did not print. Cashier tells me that it did not print becasue I used coupon. I am like it always print one coupon per item. Then she calls manager to give me refund. I want to another store and I had no problem at all. I was only doing one transaction. I have not been to this store in more then a month.

I think some of these store's turn the coupon machine off. I asked to do 3 transactions in my store, but it was for 3 different set of items (Dove's Men, Vanity Fair napkins, and the Swiffer). I had 3 sets of RR's that I needed to use up this week, and the cashier was very understanding.

Flying under the radar is a little easier for me since there are two WG's on my way home from work. But it is very important that the machine be on. When a RR doesn't print and you bought the correct items, ask them to return them and do the transaction without your RR. If that is truly the issue, use it on a separate transaction on something else you need.

Before I sound holier than thou, though, an asst manager got upset with me because he said I basically didn't pay for the BOGO last week on Schick razors that were also BOGO. I said, "Yes, I got it for free after the coupon." I'm sure he still thought I "stole" it, but it's definitely not the same thing.

I'd like to think that I fly under the radar, but most of my neighborhood stores know me now. One AM called me a "regular" even though I haven't been going to them (they charged sales-tax on the meters). And all our well aware of the fact that my OOP is usually pennies & that my OOP is all tax. How is it my fault that my purchase should've been $40+ but after q's & RRs, it's like $3-4? Or when it s/be $10+, I'm paying $1? But I gotta say, my q friendly store had a great suggestion for me - get a Walgreens card or giftcard, no need for cash .

And when I know that I'm going to do multiple transaction & there's price-matching involved (Huggies), I find my nearest MOD. I want someone with authority to ring me up, & not give the regular gals a hard time

My SIL called the catalina company today and they told her that there's no way that a manager can call and ask to have their machines programmed not to print any RR's(I think they gave her the # to corp) and corp told her the same thing, they will be calling that manager. But I still don't see why the RR didn't print, she said she made sure the light was on and she had the right items :shrug7:

Glad to hear the good news. I have no idea why the RR didn't print, but it wounds like corp. is on the case and will solve her problem. Thanks for keeping us posted.

Its all about people not understanding what coupons are.

There are some people in the world who HONESTLY believe you are stealing items when you use them. My husband was one of them for a long time. He use to say stuff like "what did you rip off today?" It took me a long time to get him to understand how coupons work and that the cost IS BEING PAID. (just not by me - by the manufacturer) He now loves the fact that we use name brand items and not generic. He also loves going to the registers with me and seeing the person ahead of me spend $40.00 and seeing me pay $3.00 for similar items.

I can see how some store employees would get frustrated and try to kick people out or ban them if they dont get it, and actually believe people are stealing from their store. They need to be educated on how coupons work and realize that the store IS GETTING PAID.

NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TOPIC....JUST A SMALL VENT:

Anyways, it is frustrating for me when I see posts from people who say "I did 30 transactions at my store". To me, that is very excessive. What happened to getting a good deal? Some people make it sound like they are trying to earn a living by how many RR they can get back.
