CHEF Tea Party Convention-laughable!

Apparently in this country, there are 600 people who hate Obama enough that they will pay several hundred dollars and fly to Tennessee to talk about it. Ironically, these same folks probably spend a bunch of time complaining about the economy and joblessness, and how it's Obama's fault...yet have no trouble coughing up $550 to attend this convention.

The media coverage is just laughable--they're treating it like it's a big deal when it's only a few hundred people. I'm planning a conference for summer of 2011 and we expect more people than that.

And I'll eat my words in a few years if I'm wrong, but I don't think that is the case. Sarah Palin and this new strategy of hers. Aligning herself with the Tea Partiers....all the while criticizing Obama for running on a platform of change. Um, isn't that what the Tea Party is about, change? With her condescending attitude and nails-on-a-chalkboard voice, I think she alienates more people than she attracts.

Oh, and let's not forget the buttons and posters protesting 'teh socialism.' I really think, that people who are supposedly so opposed to socialism....I really really think that think socialism means that they go to work every day, work their butts off, while some people sit at home. Then at the end of the week, they're afraid they'll have to hand in their paychecks for redistribution. All the while enjoying their socialized education system, roads, fire protection, police protection, garbage collection, mail delivery.........

No. Both Democrats AND Republicans have CHANGED and gone against what our Constitution supports. Both have made the Federal Government bigger than what the Constitution allows and have changed our laws and our country from what once made it great.

The Tea Party movement is tired of politicians working for their own agenda and ignoring the shouts of "WE THE PEOPLE". It's not about CHANGING, but going back to it's original state. It's all the CHANGE that got us in such a mess to begin with and that keeps digging us deeper.

I don't think it is just Obama that these tea partiers dislike... I'm an independent and am outraged by many politicians on both sides of the aisle who think it is OK to borrow and spend like crazy in a time when our economy is such a mess! Common sense people please! Some of us were raised to not spend what we don't have... or at least drastically cut back! Just venting...but I do think it is time for most of our politicians to get voted out and get some adults in there who know how to budget...
Oh and as far as the convention.... it may or may not amount to much in the end but I have no problem with people spending $600 or so to go...What I think is truly ridiculous is the hundreds of thousands spent to talk about "global warming" in Copenhagen which basically accomplished nothing...oh and it was on our dime! Just sayin...

I am one of the lucky ones.I can shop tax free in Delaware instead of Maryland and not have to pay the 6 per cent sales tax.I'm glad I'm not an Obama supporter - if I was I would have to make all my purchases in Maryland instead of Delaware and not be able to save alot of money. It would be hypocritical of me to do that.

GO TEA PARTY !!!

The Tea Party people are made up of all sorts, including Dems, Independents and yes, the "dreaded" Republicans who have come to realize that we are losing this country because of the out of control spending, the attack on our Constitution and our freedoms, and much more than that. What all those posting above me said hold true for the Tea Party. The group is becoming a formidable force against what the "established" government has been doing for decades. It's a group of people, millions of people, who are rethinking how we vote and who we vote for to represent us in our Government. The Tea Party represents the people of this great nation who are waking up and are "Mad as *** and we're not going to take it anymore!" Those 600 people represent hundreds of thousands EACH. Ask yourself why Obama and those in Congress are going to such lengths in their attempt to discredit and disparage the Tea Party movement or even in some cases "jump on the bandwagon" only in most cases be thrown right back off. It couldn't be because they FEAR the group could it? Nah, of course not.

Wonderful Government services.

Spoke to my mom in Baltimore MD. She has'nt seen one snow plow clearing her street yet.Snow started on Friday - here it is now Sunday afternoon.
It is supposed to snow again Tuesday night until Wednesday afternoon - which means we will not see our mailman this week.
Govenor of MD on TV - do not drive as the roads are not clear yet. Walked to Superfresh to get my Sunday paper - the parking lot at Superfresh is as clean as a bell.
Lord knows when we will get a trash pick up.

Can someone please tell me why OBAMA is so great? I keep forgetting.

Default Re: Tea Party Convention-laughable!

First of all, in my OP I said nothing about Democrats or Republicans. I understand that this "tea party" is about attracting disgruntled voters on both sides. So it's just interesting to me that they mock Obama, then use his election strategy (that worked, btw). So which is it, is he stupid or isn't he? Or he is just dumb when it comes to running the gov't, but ok to use his ideas for elections?

It's laughable also that someone posted about the gov't being bigger than what the Constitution allows. I guess I missed the numbers portion in studying it. Funny how no one complains when our 4th amendment is taken from us.....

This group is founded on nothing but negativity--hate & fear. Nothing more. They have yet to suggest anything positive, and even when you see them pictured at rallies and what not, all of their posters and banners are "NO MORE whatever." Nothing positive to contribute, nothing.

Voters will tire of them very quickly, I predict this idea will backfire in a big way. You can't complain about partisan politics and negativity, then do nothing but gather all the time to do nothing but complain and criticize.

And yes, let's judge our gov't services based on one snowstorm--the 2nd biggest snowstorm since 1898. That's like saying let's judge all of motherhood and pregnancies based on the likes of Octomom or Mrs. Duggar.

Frankly, I think it also has racist motives. Yeah, I'll take all the mockery and eye rollery and shouting down that goes with that, but just reading the Tea Party Pledge makes it clear that it is not simply a matter of returning to fiscal conservatism and smaller government as is often the claim. I could actually understand that. What also further supports my opinion is the fact that nothing has really changed as drastically as people like to claim, but it is at this exact moment in history that The People™ have had "enough." The hypocrisy is astounding on many levels, one being the claim that Obama ran on a platform of change and that nothing has really changed, and then the claim that the change in this country has been so drastic and negative that "we" have had "enough."

I await the hyperbolic accusation that I believe everyone who joins/supports the whole Tea Party movement is categorically racist, but I can see right through that shout it down tactic that's become so commonly confused for discourse. I think a lot of people are genuinely shooting for a return to fiscal conservatism and smaller government. I do, however, also think it's built on (among other things) racist motives.

It's kinda of funny how everyone was in a uproar over the government's response to Hurricane Katrina (a once in a million years event) and so understanding of the governments failure in a snowstorm.
The parking lot at Superfresh proves it - let private companies clear the streets of snow and get the government out of it.
Thats what the tea party is about - get rid of this awful government spending and return to basics and save the taxpayers money.Which in turn will get the economy moving again and create real jobs for the 9 % who are now unemployed.
GO TEA PARTY.

Yes, because being inconvenienced and not being able to easily get your Sunday coupon inserts is the same thing as the number of people who died and buildings that were lost in Katrina. Was that even supposed to be a serious sentiment? You're really comparing one poster's mom who hasn't had her road plowed yet to Katrina? And somehow in her sarcastic "Obama is great" tone, he now responsible for plowing the roads?

What also further supports my opinion is the fact that nothing has really changed as drastically as people like to claim, but it is at this exact moment in history that The People™ have had "enough." Exactly.

And can even one person show me where their taxes have gone up? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? And I'm asking for proof not a rebuttal of "well where else do you think the money is going to come from?" Just one person, show me that you are spending more on taxes now, more taken out of your paycheck--from the federal level.
