Our country has evolved from the 1700's and I for one DO NOT WANT TO GO BACK to the 1700's. Sorry If I don't think things were swimmingly wonderful back then.
On a somewhat more personal level. I have a friend online whose son is disabled...because the state cut medicaid funding he cannot get the wheelchair he needs...mind you he doesn't get "your poor" medicaid. He gets "your disabled" medicaid. She was on a different website trying to get help (since what Kansas has done has broken the law and they are putting a lawsuit together)...and the harassment from "Tea Party" people has been horrifying to her.
You know it's all fine and dandy to want less government...but telling people
"Why should I have to pay for your kids wheelchair"
"Your stealing from me"
"Why do you think your entitled to have your kid get a free wheelchair"
ect....
Is inhumane...and I find it so arrogant and well...hypocritical that someone without a disabled child or spouse or parent would have the nerve to spout such nonsense...when they have never walked that path before and have no idea what it is like.
And Jeez...where have we heard phrases like those ones...hmmmmm....
Back in the 1700's...the majority of the disabled people either one died or two were left abandoned by there families. No thanks 1700's don't want you back.
As this country has evolved...so that we take care of the disabled, we don't let the poor starve to death, we provide schooling, we provide police and firemen and we get mail in a timely manner...it has to be paid for. I sorry but I do not see how you can get one without the other.
It is one thing to complain that your mailman loses your mail. It's another to try and abolish the postal service because the mail man lost your mail. It's a huge waste of time IMO.
I would love for the feds to be more efficient and to spend less money, and get rid of the pork. But I refuse to align myself with a cause that generates so much hate, negativity, and bigotry.
