I don't know why it is so surprising that parents didn't accompany their kids the entire time. We're trained from the time our kids are born that we don't have the right to demand to be with them all the time and that we must obey authority figures like doctors and nurses. The doctors kept my first baby away from me for 4 hours and then overnight after giving birth. I recently attended the birth of my nephew and the doctors completely ignored the mom's request that the baby be given to her immediately to nurse. They took their sweet time. The teachers at public school intentionally minimize parental contact. The school therapists try to deny parents access to sessions ALONE with their toddlers. I hope that my area is worse than others, but I doubt it considering that it is a wealthy area with large numbers of educated and involved parents.

So while I would never leave my child along with a medical provider, it would not surprise me if I was asked to do it.

And I hope that doctor rots in jail--that punishment is way too kind.

When baby is born doctors need to perform tests and measurements, some are not pleasant for an untrained eye. IMO it's more important to have done then for mom to nurse new baby immediately.
I do not think teachers intentionally try to minimize parents impact. If you suspect they do, you should request a meeting with explanation of their course of actions.
Therapists, especially behavioral and psychological, may be better off working with a child alone, but should have the accomodations for the parents to observe the session.

Nobody "trained" parents we don't have the right to demand to be with our kids, nor told us it is so, but some parents assume it works this way.
Optimism is a lack of information.

I dug this one up from the dungeon. There have been a few updates:

AG Biden: Many broke law in Bradley case | delawareonline.com | The News Journal

It appears that *lots* of people and agencies dropped the ball and dozens of cases could have been prevented.

And none of those tests and measurements are life threatening, so why not allow a mom to nurse if that's what she wants to do?
