WM lost the hub cap on my 1996 Olds Cutlass Supreme. It flew off after a tire change. The new hub cab cost $150 to replace. WM tried to weasel out of replacing it. Two months later, I received my replacement hub cap.

Sears kept us for 5 hours for a brake change and refused to look at it when the brakes made noise. I wrote, emailed, and tried to deal with corporate to no avail. I love their clearance but hate Sears otherwise.

What else would you expect from a corporation that would merge with KaMeApaRT?

My family also only goes to one place to get all their car repair work done. One time, someone crashed into the side of my father's Buick. The only problem was that it was smashed up pretty bad and the door on that passenger side wouldn't open. But no biggie, because it was in the rear and you could just slide in from the other side. Well, the first auto shop we went to said that we had to replace it otherwise all sorts of bad stuff would happen. They also said that we needed to completely change our brakes - a $2000 job. In fact, the total price for both jobs would have cost about $5000. And considering this was a 15 year old car, we were pretty much just gonna get a new car.

However, the second place we went to (which is the shop we usually go to) told us that we didn't really need to fix it the door - they said nothing would happen if it didn't. They said that if we wanted to make it "unuglify it" (yes that was the term they used lol) they could bang it with a big hammer to remove some of the dents - and mind you, they only charged us $20 bucks for that. They also said that there was no problem with the brakes whatsoever. So thankful for that shop! We still go there and ONLY there till today.

Oh, and about the Buick? Had the car until it was 19 years old - it had over 200,000 miles on it. We only got rid of it because we were able to buy a brand new Chrysler Town and Country van for under $15,000. I still miss that car (it got 33 mpg on the highway sometimes - and mind you, this was a BIG sedan). We named it "Big John" after that old song. I forgot who sang it though.

Woops! Just noticed I had a couple of grammatical errors. I need to proof read more. THIS is what it is supposed to say:

My favorite is when they offer up a list of what needs to be done and, after I say "No, thank you," they say, "We're only concerned about your safety ma'am." Really? My reply is, "If you were ONLY concerned about my safety, you would do it for free."

My DH used to be a mechanic. At one place he worked out for 1 week and quit, his boss told him to make up things wrong with the car so they'd make more money. When it came to a simple oil change, DH was told to tell one owner that he needed an air filter even though the air filter was brand new! DH walked away from that job. This was a national chain also (won't mention names though.)
