Don't you have to re-register every year?
I just received a call from Dish Network trying to give me their sales pitch.
I asked how they got my number since I am on the National do not call list and my phone number is unlisted.
The girl was clueless about what I was talking about. Saying "ummm I don't know a computer just gave it to me"
Well no kidding sweet heart. I again repeated myself more clearly so I thought that she would understand.
Stating I was curious how my number got into her companies computer as it is against the law to call someone for a sales call if they are on the national do not call list. Again see gives me the line she has no idea, that she got it from the computer.
I can see this is going no where at all. I ask to speak to a supervisor. After waiting about 30 seconds she says that they are all busy and she is about to hang up on me. No I want to speak to someone. So I finally talk to Dave and I tell him my problem and I would like to know how they obtain phone numbers.
He quickly tells me it must be a computer mix up, he will put me on the do not call list and hangs up. I did not even get a word in before he hung up which I am sure he did on purpose since he could really care less if I did not want them calling me.
I went to the national do not call list to file a complaint. I verified that I was on it. Which I am, since March 2008. The only problem is I can not file a complaint because the number they called me from is not registered. Urgh!
What is the point of the registry at all then!
I am more frustrated knowing I have no recourse for them breaking the law!
Sorry I just had to vent. If anyone knows of more recourse of a complaint I can take please let me know.

Info for consumers:
How long does my phone number stay registered?
Telephone numbers on the registry will only be removed when they are disconnected and reassigned, or when the consumer chooses to remove a number from the registry.

I just add, that you use to have to resubscribe each year.
But a law was passed in 2007 and went into effect in 2008 so that you do not have to.

I would complain and use the 1-800 number they list on their website as the number they called from. They probably have hundreds of lines. The main number should be sufficient to report the company for a violation. I am not sure why their number would have to be registered. I mean, anyone can open a business and call you and isn't allowed to if you are on the Do Not Call List. Why do the businesses need to register? Maybe this is a silly question.

If you have ever done business with The Dish Network then they can ignore the 'don't call list' although I think they have to take you off their list if you request such.
