That is wrong. It's not like she gave the kids her FB page as a homework assignment. What would happen if they drove down the street and seen her coming out of a bar or at a store buying a Play Girl magazine and a 12 pack? It's her personal business and she didn't bring it into the school. What the heck are kids doing on FB anyway?

Wow, from the beginning this is just MESSED up. I'm of the opinion though, if you don't wanna know, don't look. Because there might be something there that may or may not upset you.

I don't think she should have been fired. She did nothing wrong. She wasn't at school drinking, she wasn't promoting bad behavior to her students...she literally.. did nothing wrong. Denying her benefits is just going to get her to sue them. And I'm behind her!

Alternatively, I agree with PP. If she does porn in her off time, that's her business. I honestly just care if she's teaching school properly and keeping the reins in on her classroom. That's the only interaction she has with me, that's the only interaction I have with her.

I do not think she should have been fired. Her face book should be private.

I love FB, I am on it all the time. I stumbled accross one of my daughters teachers. Her FB is not private. I do think she should have it private because I thinks he can get in trouble. What she does in her own time is her business and not for me to judge. I have not checked it latley to see if she has changed it yet. I mentioned it to another teacher so maybe she would pass along the word its open for all students too see.

ridiculous!! so does this mean that if teachers are heard by someone using the "b" word while not at school, the can be let go also?? give me a break!! there needs to be a line drawn between personal and professional time.

along the ssame lines, my DD (a 7th grade cheer leader) and her team were just warned about behavior and language on FB, myspace, etc. if they are seen or found out to have cussed or done anything that the coach deems inappropriate, they can be let go from the team. now, i can see both sides of this, but seriously, where is the line between what the do on school campus/time and home?? anything my child does at home will be dealt with at home....i don't see that it is any of the school's business.

cant edit, but forgot to mention that anyone can accuse other people of doing anything online....then say they edited the profile or deleted it. i could call and say "mrs so and so had up a scantally clad photo" if i didnt like her teaching manner....and with my DD's situation, any other little chick that doesnt like her can say she cussed online and now it's up to us to prove she didnt. kinda kicks the "innocent until proven quilty" thing right out of the water.

I want to first say that some things happened when I was in high school that the teachers should have been fired for and were not. However, what this poor teacher has done - has no basis in firing or even asking her to leave. She was on a vacation and enjoying a drink. I would say that 95% of adults have done this at one point or another, so how can anyone condemn this poor lady of posting pictures of herself having a good time. She doesn't look drunk or irresponsible in the picture.

I absolutely can not wrap my mind around this idea that we now have the power to poke our noses in everyone's personal business. Facebook was created to reconnect to people and it is very sad that it is being used against people. Teachers are humans just like the rest of us and God bless them for taking on the responsibility of teaching our children. We should not interfere with their personal lives unless it is causing harm to them or our children. She obviously did not cross that boundry.
