Default warnig facebook users

warning to every single facebooker on here. DO NOT download the find my relatives or whatever its called app. I just did earlier today nd now my brandnew laptop has a nice little virus. I did send them a message about it and told them thaat they have to pay to fix it and then delete my account but Im gonna guess that they wont see the message for another month and wont do anything about it but hey I tried right. oh yea and dont download that stupid app.

Thanks for the warning.....although I think I'd rather get a computer virus than have my relatives find me

I don't download any of that junk. Anyone who invites me to anything is instantly blocked from inviting me to anything and everything.

Huh, I just joined FB and it hasn't attempted to download anything to my computer. I have Farmville, Fishville, Happy Aquarium, Xmas Tree, some Birthday Card thing...I was a staunch Myspace user but all my friends left for FB so there I am. No one uses email anymore so if I want to keep in touch it's either txt or FB and I don't even own a cell so... Are you actually downloading stuff from FB or is this just from an app on the site?

Hm I'm confused, nothing on Facebook downloads anything to your computer period, that's kinda the whole point of it. Any Facebook apps you use are just allowed access to your account (kinda like a cookie), but nothing is ever installed onto your computer. Was it possibly an ad you clicked on? Although I think FB is pretty diligent about the ads as well.

Do you happen to know what virus it was?

Sorry about the virus, but I'm not sure how it could have been FB to blame. Although I don't think I'd want to find my relatives online either ;-)

That's what I was thinking. I mean I've only been on FB like a week and I've tried soooo many apps and all my scans are clean. I'm no comp expert but I'm pretty good with finding anything that sneaks past my antivirus and so far nada. Nothing has been downloaded because holy moly between Vista and Firefox I get like 20 warnings/allowances just trying to get my DivX updates

Ha! We are kindred facebook spirits. I'm a facebook curmudgeon. I don't toss sheep, mob war, poke, pinch, shave or whatever with anyone. As a result, my facebook account sits mostly abandoned. Well, that and the creepy flirty cousin.

The thing with all those apps is they ARE NOT facebook apps. They are made by a third parties, who are NOT MONITORED. There is no way in the world facebook could police all that crap. So anything you let access your facebook (ie your computer) you do at your own risk.
