Sorry, but I don't know how to multiquote.

Yes, it was mailed express. It cost around $25. That must be some sort of delivery confirmation, thats why when DH called the PO he was told that it was delivered 6 days after it left.

In the acct history I clicked on detals of this sale and this is what is there. I'm sure this is not excatly how it appeared when they sent this, but its all we can see now.

    OK to complete the transaction

Payment Status: CompletedWhat should I do now?
    • Contact the buyer to confirm the purchase
    • Save all correspondence with the buyer
Following these guidelines can help protect you if a claim is filed for an unauthorized payment or items not received.

    Seller Protection: Not Eligible
    Protection for items not received

Transactions without a shipping address aren't eligible for seller protection. We recommend that you contact Rohan C Kawahara to make sure this payment was authorized. For more information, see our tips to sell securely.

We have no shipping address on file.

On the top left it says OK to complete the transaction. Yes, I see where it says seller protection not eligible. Yes the buyer was contacted and we do have all correspondence. I guess when my DH saw it was OK to complete he never thought anything more of it. PP has this guys name on file just not a confirmed addie. Why wouldnt they not have to make everyone have a confirmed addie and like I said above so what if its confirmed,he wanted it shipped somewhere else and that just what happened. Why doesn't PP protect all sellers from buyers, what does a buyer have to do for the seller to be protected. Why isn't everyone protected. Each and everyone who buys and sells should have to follow all the rules and guidelines when setting up an acct or you dont get to buy or sell, simple as that :hectic1:

Paypal leaves it up to you if you don't want to ship to an unconfirmed address. You need to look at it like they are just the middle man that holds the money. It is always up to the seller if they want to complete a transaction to an unconfirmed address no one said you MUST ship it to them. No one says you MUST ship to a seperate address other than the confirmed one you were given.

This all boils down to you not reading the rules. I know I will get slammed for this but the rules are stated. You were told that you were not covered if you chose to ship it. When you signed up to accept paypal you had to accept the terms otherwise you never would have been allowed to accept paypal. It isn't their fault you didn't read the rules you said you accepted. Paypal shouldn't take the hit because you choose to accept the payment.

You are always free to get your own merchant account-but you are going to get similar rules there too PLUS the FEES. The fact is these companies are not going to take the loss. Why should they? All you are paying them for is to take the money and give it to you minus a service charge of course.

You really have no one to blame but yourself. You got dupped.

Ya Ya I know the rules on excepting CC everyone has to now But what I don't understand is whats the difference if its not a confirmed address, it seems like this is what it boils down to. It wasnt a confirmed addie so we aren't protecting you. Who gives a hoot where it is being shipped. You are suppose to protect people not a house or addie.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, as things may have changed since I last paid attention. I believe a "confirmed" address is one that the person has attached a credit card or bank account to their Ebay/Paypal account. Last I knew ONLY US and some Canadian (not all) addressess could be confirmed. No overseas addies can be confirmed.

So shipping overseas is a crapshoot to begin with. If you choose to ship to an unconfirmed address, that is also a crapshoot. If someone asks you to ship to a different addy as a gift, also a crapshoot. The seller is within their rights to refuse to ship to a different address other than the confirmed one on file. If your addy is not confirmed, I believe they can also tell you to stuff it and file unwelcome bidder.

Like someone else up there said, it's all in how much you're comfortable in losing. If you can't afford to lose $50 in a dispute, then you have to make sure you're covered.
    Delivery/signature confirmation
    insurance
    confirmed address

You should generally wait a day or two to ship too, as someone else mentioned they got an email a day or so later telling them not to ship, but was too late. All depends on how much you're willing to risk.

Well for one thing, you should give a hoot where it is being shipped. If Paypal didn't make rules and have some boundries they would have all kinds of fraudulant stuff going on...which you found out first hand. Why should Paypal have to cover the costs of others not giving a hoot and doing things their own way.

A confirmed address is saying that the buyer is indeed connected to that address. If somebody steals a credit card and buys an item on Ebay with it, they are more than likely not going to have the item shipped to the address that the credit card is listed for. That is the reason why it is risky to send to an unconfirmed address. I don' t think there are to many people who are going to purchase an $1100 coin and ship it overseas as a gift.

If Paypal says they will protect everybody no matter what, they won't be in business very long. What if you sold a coin locally and the person's check turned out to be stolen...would you expect your bank to just put the money in your account because they are there to protect you? NO! Think of Paypal as your bank.
