Re: $1,100.00 SOL Thanks to Paypal If a buyer asks you if you'll take a money order/cash/whatever in an email, you can. You just can't offer it in your auctions. You can set up a merchant account (don't know exactly how you do that) to avoid Paypal, but you have to accept credit cards, whether you want to or not. If you follow the SPP to the letter, then you're less likely to have money frozen/taken from you. Delivery/signature(over $250) confirmation, mailed to address on whatever page it is, and whatever other rules there are now. Even to overseas you have to show proof of delivery, which is very expensive. YOur receipt for mailing is not proof of delivery. These rules have been in place for years.
Buyers can still find ways to screw you over if they want to, though. Send you back an empty box or a rock in a box type thing. Never, ever do partial refunds. Make them return the item to you on their dime (in the rules). The most you have to give back is the original shipping and item price. Unless it's your error. Make them file a Paypal dispute if they're fishing for a partial. Never ever file a mutual agree to cancel. The buyer can say no and you're screwed. You cannot refile and will not get your final fees back.
I never sold there. but used to buy frequently. I don't even buy there anymore. The seaches are so wonky you can't find anything. Best Match is useless and if your "standings" aren't up there, I probably won't even see your items. If I can't search for an item and see every available one there is, then it's useless to me. I don't want new or Chinese crap. I had my niche items that I was always looking for and they weren't new items. Once the "antique" aspect of it disappeared, I just could no longer find "IT" on Ebay. |
