So, I gave up. 2 stores now supress them. I'm getting irritated. Not because they supress them. But, because the manufacturers put them on there. We have to rally or something here. You know P&G listened when couponers rallied (back when our mom/grandmothers were couponing).

O.K. after it is all said in done he is right. It is still a good enough deal, and I am just an under the radar kind of person. I can't take back the food. Oh well.

But, $9.00 in my money went right out the door if ask me.
This is exactly what happened to me. My coupons were 'suppressed.' It bothered the heck out of me.

I still do not understand what advantage manufacturers have with coupons that say "Do not double." Maybe it falsely inflates demand for the product or something.

I have had a cashier tell me that she suppresses coupons for certain people that she feels are using too many coupons and she doesn't like their attitude. That just seems so wrong. It's not fair to discriminate like that but I don't want to make waves and possibly ruin it for people who do get them doubled. She has done it to me a few times but I just politely ask her to please void out the items and return the coupons so I can use them at a store that will double them.
I have 2 cashiers I know will not suppress them and try to use their lines whenever they are working, otherwise it's a gamble.
I wish the store would have one policy that ALL cashiers followed for ALL customers.

I was at Publix on Monday night (in Atl on Howell Mill Rd). The cashier was suppressing my coupons that said DND (5) on them. I politely said that the Publix I usually go to does not suppress them and can she ask the manager if this is the policy (because I feel that cashiers are doing what they think is correct and not what management wants). The CS manager came over and said the cashier should only suppress the doubling of coupons that say DND and don't automatically double (doesn't make sense, I know). So, basically anything that automatically doubles that is .50 or less is OK. So I got all my veggies and BC frosting.

I think the best thing to do is to express your opinion so that the stores know they might lose business. I told the manager that I will shop at my regular store to get doubles if they don't double (I said it very nicely though!! Kindness always works better!).

Here is the contact info for corporate. Let's start an email campaign!!

    Send Publix a Message

I am going to email right now! It only takes a minute and it might save us all some $ in the long run!! I've heard some ppl have even gotten coupons in the mail for writing. (then again, others have said they were ignored).

HERE is proof that YOU can make a difference in educating cashiers:
(This is the email I got in response to the one I sent corporate)

"Thank you for your email. We appreciate our customers taking the time to contact us.

Store Manager Bob Woods has explained to all cashiers at this store that as long as our system allows a coupon to double, we should never suppress the doubling. He has addressed this with the customer service team to prevent this from happening in the future. He offers a sincere apology for any inconvenience and he appreciate your shopping with the Howell Mill Village Publix.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact us. If we can be of any further assistance regarding this matter, please either call our Consumer Relations toll-free number at 1-800-242-1227, write us at the Publix Super Markets Corporate Office, PO Box 407, Lakeland, FL 33802, ATTN: Consumer Relations, or contact us at our website, publix.com and mention your reference number."

    Go Bob Woods!!

I went to Publix at Locust Grove, GA on Saturday and they did not suppress any of my coupons and I had the ones for the Idahoan potatoes and I think they said "do not double". A pp is correct the store is the one that eats the loss of the extra value of the coupon when it is doubled. I work for Freshway Market and we triple coupons up to $.34 and double up to $.50 and our cashiers have been told not to double a coupon if it says DND. I tried to explain that it could affect our business but to no avail. I just appreciate the fact that we triple all the time so bounty paper towels end up really cheap! I did dash off an email to Publix about the DND issue. Hope it helps.

    BLUSH Re: Problems with Publix

Well I was sooo excited about the new Publix on 9th Ave. Pensacola, Florida. Went to the Grand Opening to check out the store. Nice store but very little if any coupons as of yet. Might be because it's new. :shrug7: But then again my friend that works for Pepperidge Farm told me that store would not have many coupons. Apparently he attended one of their store meetings where they said that.

Made a second visit today because they had the Rachel Ray Mags in stock (my fav store was out)....I recluctantly went to 9th for my Mom. Needless to say it was a fiasco and I was totally humiliated . Although the store manager Bernie (the Liar) stated he honored the same coupon policy as the University Pkwy. store...HE clearly does NOT.

I clearly asked him several times if the coupon policy was to accept one Publix (or competitor) and one manfacturer per item. He stated "yes" both the day of the Grand Opening and again today. I wanted to purchase the Ritz crackers on sale bogo. I wanted to use my Target $1/1 and $1/1 Manf. Q....and this was his response When you buy the Ritz and get one free(store promotion)..that's it that deal is done. :shrug7: Huh? So I said then your policy is NOT to accept 1 Publix or competitor and 1 manf. ? So you are saying I can't use my Q's because they are on sale (store promotion) ??

He just repeated what he had said before. When you buy the Ritz and get one free(store promotion)..that's it that deal is done. Why is it that when people don't know how to respond they believe if they repeat the same answer you will somehow magically forget they had said the same thing before. Maybe they believe you'll be distracted from the real issue. :shrug7: Sorry that magic powder doesn't work on Couponers.

Needless to say he and his CS Manager (whose name escapes me right now) were looking at me like I was crazy. Bernie even had the nerve to tell me well let's be reasonable about this.???? :nah1:Quite honestly I didn't care about being reasonable but I kept my cool and was polite. I really cared about whether he was going to accept my 1 Target and 1 Manf. Q. as he had told me he would on TWO occassions and as I understand the Publix coupon policy to be. He was the one not being reasonable, logical and honest about his store policy. (He would only accept (1) Target $1/1 Ritz for my (8) Ritz Cracker purchase.) I was also thinking long term. If we don't come to terms now that will set the precedence for the future. That would not be a good thing for couponers as us.

Well it didn't end there. There were gals with tables set out offering wine tastes and stating that you may buy the bottle for $8.99 and use the $3.00 off coupon attached to the neck off one bottle rather than the 2 bottles the coupon stated. I double checked with the gal and she said yes Mom could use it on one bottle. I said are you sure? She said YES.

Well I go to have Mom be rung up and Manager of CS has me go with her to the CS desk...which as you know is right smack in front of and middle of all the registers at that store. No privacy there. Many could see that something was going on as they had Mom's groceries rung up at CS. I was quite humiliated as some were watching the manager hand Mom's groceries one at a time and responding coupon one at a time to the CS cashier. In other words she would hand cashier the item and then the coupon...for all the groceries and . Yea I was sooooo humiliated. When she got to the wine I explained what the gal said about the wine coupon so she runs off to ask her (which is understandable). She confirms it but she says I told her we have to do what the manf. says on the coupon...which I agree but that's how this gal was presenting it to all the customers. Buy the wine for $5.99 after the $3 off coupon. She honored it.

Lastly she stated she could not accept the Buy 2 Sorrento cheese and get $3.75 off Rachel Ray Mag Publix or Manf Q even though I meet the requirement. That's when I got fed up and said you know I'm going to have to email Publix because I understood that your policy was 1 of each....she went ahead and accepted it but not because it was the right thing but becasue of my comment....Again my interest is for the long term not just for that one time. I hate when they try to make you feel like they are doing you a favor rather than you were right about their policy and just following their rules.

Boy am I disappointed in this store. Though they were polite... in a lady your crazy kinda way. They are totally ignorant about coupons, the proper use and are unwilling to honor their store coupon policy.

The reason for my typing this is maybe a small vent (ok big vent) but to give you all the heads up and to request and insist that all Pensacola, Florida Couponers press them (the 9th Ave store) on following through on their store coupon policy. Their windows have a sign that states they accept competitor coupon....well if we all insist and speak up we will eventually train this new store.

If they refuse than I suggest we give the University Parkway store all our business. They are reasonable, friendly and go above and beyond in being helpful.

Please let me know about your personal experience at this store either here or by pm..however you prefer. I'm curious.
    REPS ALWAYS APPRECIATED!
