Oh, I had another thought. Sometimes I feel like many of us feel the need to debate anything that is posted here, when maybe the OP really wasn't looking for a debate. Two examples that I can think of are when somebody posted that Ted Kennedy died, or the recent military shooting. I sometimes think a current events board would help in that maybe not everything would turn into a debate, kwim?

I think that debates will inevitably occur in anything remotely political in the current events arena, because the country is very polarized right now.

No. There'd be a lot of overlap, for one. Also, it's just one more place to kvetch. Do we really need another one? Third, it's just another place to have to monitor here on an already busy site. Why add another layer? I'm not very active on HUTC & am capable of avoiding the subjects that I want when I do pop in; I don't need yet another forum to scan.

I voted yes but really, I don't think it would matter. Any worldly topic will end up being the same ol tired pro-Obama versus anti-Obama rants. I gave up trying to discuss hot topics a long time ago.
