I recently started getting my prescriptions filled at a Kroger's pharmacy, and the pharmacist always shows me the pamphlet that comes with, tells me the name of the medication and the dose, tells me the pill count, and then puts on a glove and half-pours the bottle of pills out into her hand so that I can see that the pills and the picture match. Could be that I go during off hours, but I've always gotten really good service. And I'm glad I have, because if I got the wrong dose or even the wrong meds, I might not notice.

I will definitely be very conscious of my medications from now on. I'm so glad your kids were ok, and I was really alarmed to hear all these cases of misdosing people, especially children- and even worse, the reactions of the pharmacy. Pharmacists are a lot like doctors in that they handle potentially dangerous substances- a slip up like that should result in some kind of disciplinary action. We're all human and we all make mistakes, but when we make mistakes that might damage or end other people's lives, there really should be more consequence than just retraining. Whew.
