I was just thinking that those totals aren't correct. Then I realized that they are for people with 0 income. Your allotment is offset by your income. Your friend must not work at all.

If she feels her allotment is too high then she can always go in and have it adjusted.

As if she would...
I just wonder what would happen if someone asked for less? Prob the case worker would fall off her chair.

Actually having a computer helps...how else would I know about all the free stuff I can get?
So true, I was a couponer before I came here but I had no idea how people were able to 'mega coupon" Having a computer helps plan ahead and eliminates alot of the work and organizing that made it so hard before. Esp. with hidden sales/deals
example with the Snuggle: I thought $3.75 p/32 load bottle ws really good (at Giant) but then someone mentioned Foodlion has it for $3 = free!!! So much better!!! and while I was there I checked the meat dept. and found my marked down chicken.

Yup we were a family of 5 when my Dh was laid off and we only got $140 a month...and no place that doubled coupons...it meant it was really hard to stretch out that $140.

It goes by your income AND if your getting unemployment or SSI (like we were) or even child support...that is considered unearned income and you actually get less food stamps.

So if we made the same on unemployment with DH working as we did when he wasn't...we would get more foodstamps with DH working. Nice eh .

There are still states that use paper food stamps? I just figured they'd all switched to the EBT cards (I think that's what they're called?)

Out in Missouri and Kansas they are EBT cards...but end up still being called Food Stamps.

How does one sell there stamps...when they are EBT cards??

I was talking about years ago...I assume they all switched to cards by now. Some stores (you know those shady little convenience stores) will let you swap FS for whatever. They just ring it up as food. Also if you take a friend to the store with you and let your friend pick out stuff then you pay with your FS. I assume this is how it goes...I've never asked anyone how they sell their FS...maybe I should next time. Got me all curious now...

I think it would be easy to spend that type of money,

Thinking a load of bread is 1.50

gallon of milk almost $5....

I don't know whats covered under food stamps, but is like toilet paper and stuff like that on there? Food is high enough but paper goods, OUCH!
