How do people run out of food stamps?

Not sure about the similarity of our cases here, but I too work part time on the internet....would like to say...I pay more taxes doing that (self-employment) than I do working a regular job where someone else pays me....so really even though I am on a strict budget...and I get stamps....I TOO AM PAYING TAXES and LOADS OF THEM. The other woman was being just flat out rude and insulting.

....just another thought. 2 many people are doing what they have to do 2 get what they WANT instead of what they NEED! there is a huge difference. they always think about worrying about the consequences later. then when they catch up with them they complain about not having this or that and its because they bought WANTS instead of NEEDSf...suffer then. IMO anyway. and another thing about no jobs out there. there are. there are LOTS and lots of fast food jobs. but they don't want that. i don't like people sitting on the system and making excuses. i wish the state would make them go do X amount community service hours if they don't have a job. unless you are laid up in a hospital bed, there is no excuse to give back to your community in one way or another...

I don't know quite how to explain it to you but a lot of those people you see working those fast food jobs are getting food stamps. What do you expect when somebody works a full time job and they don't get paid a living wage? :shrug7:

They had a older lady walking around with her oxygen tank picking up leaves and garbage in the park. My my! Such compassion! I know! maybe we can put a motor on that hospital bed and we can get those people to work the drive through at the fast food places.

Oh I wish I could repp you. Not only is it rather pathetic that someone on oxygen would have to walk around picking up leaves....I am a mother who has to drag around oxygen tanks for my young son....so I carry them all the time......seriously they are heavy, uncomfortable and just a PITA to have to haul.

What? How does that even work? That was a fark up on the store's part.

And the .99 toothbrush would not be on the tax payer's dollar since under normal circumstances toothbrushes do not ring up as food I dunno tho my MaxWhite smells so good and minty...

Maybe the person has arthritis?

If the person was willing to spend such a large percentage of their funds on that toothbrush, then I doubt they will be the ones that are complaining about running out of food stamps.

I think there could be some debate on the ethics/legality of being able to spend that money on a nonfood item when FS are only supposed to pay for food, but the person could probably get the same result by buying $120 worth of Quaker items at Walgreens and getting back $60 in RR to buy a $60 electric toothbrush. (of course if they use coupons, it won't cost the full $120, but just using this as an example)

Yes. I witnessed this purchase at the local grocery store. There was a blue clearance tag on the box. This means it is rang up under grocery.
