I happened across this a few minutes ago and nearly wet myself laughing.
The birthday boy turned 5 last week...how time flies. And I made cupcakes this time :).
I think the idea is that the child can have the smaller cake to demolish. Not terribly clear on the policy though.

I remember this thread!! I can't believe it's been 4 years, lol. Glad he had a less stressful birthday this year. :D
Sweet, my curly haired little girl will be 5 in August, and yes time sure does fly! Man I miss Publix cakes, I especially miss the fruit basket cake. It's expensive, but sooo dang goooood!

They've actually now started posting that the free cake is with the purchase of a regular birthday cake. I think that was the idea back then, but since there was nothing in writing anywhere everyone just assumed "free cake".
That poor boy is actually an asst. bakery manager now. Nice guy, still clueless ;).

I just saw this post, read back to the very first post and laughed so hard I woke my 19 yr old DD up !! Boy was she cranky... (another story for another time)
I do hope Jared had a wonderful birthday this year.
I know it was a headache then and is fun to laugh at now. Thank you for sharing that with all of us.
