That's so true...people can easily see their bank accounts being affected by the rising cost of cigs, but they can't easily see the condition of their lungs from smoking.
It's 35 cents off of ground round,
    Baby, cut that coupon out!

"Daddy, I heard vodka prices went up. Does it mean you'll drink less?
No, my son, you and mommy are going to eat less.."

sometimes price increase will not even affect brands used.

Nah, they just find richer friends they can bum cigs/alcohol off of.

often not richer, but more selfish.. Don't you know they work hard and deserve what they want? You didn't see families when a man takes his own allowance (cigs, lunches, drinks with friends) BEFORE allocating anything to food, rent, kids, etc.?
But if for a smoker/drinker it's enough to only bum their stuff from someone, this person can get off easy.

I still miss my packs I got from Canada that had CIGARETTES CAUSE CANCER written across the top 1/3 of the box...

I went to the Cleveland Health Museum at 13 and looked at an actual set of lungs that had tar and cancer from smoking- on the way home from school I still smoked. I remember thinking 'I need to quit smoking when I'm young before I do that damage'.

I wish someone would figure out the magic formula to make people not ever want to smoke and to help people quit forever. I quit 5/12/2006 and it wasn't the first time, but hopefully is the last. None of the marketing that I see makes me want to go back, so I don't see how they're getting more people now.

Didn't stop me & I was dirt poor. I just changed brands. Went from Marlboro's to Basic's to Echo's (which, ironically, is what people heard when I coughed from smoking them).

I see some of the poorest of people lighting up every single day. It takes something deeper to quit. Money may play a part for most, but I don't think those that quit for money will last.
