HOT You have to PAY for McDonalds WiFi access!!

Can you believe that McDonald's charges for their WiFi access? You've got to me be kidding me!:hectic1:

Really, I mean, come on! It's free at Panera, Starbucks, YOUR local coffee shop, etc, etc, etc - but not at McDonald's. UGH!

Yup...when we first moved to our new home I had to resort to McDonalds once to get internet access...It's only good for 2 hours too...really stinks.

Oh, and it's $2.99 for 2 hours - and then you get charged tax! And whenever I ask if they have any coupons for free codes, they always so they're out!

That' s okay I was in Walgreens the other day and noticed a sign that they charge full-price for a cup with ice in it! So, if it's a hot day and I'm buying a 2 liter I have to pay full price for something to pour it in into.
Sheesh just about every place around here gives you cups with ice free if you're making a purchase or anominal fee if you're not.

No, its not stupid. Those machines require upkeep, and are often vandalized (I've even seen stolen). Should they just suck up and eat the cost?

Why should they give you a cup and ice for free? That cup and ice isn't free to them.

Hey Liz, ever hear of a little thing called Customer Service??? Who's paying for the Free WiFi at Starbucks, Panera, etc...??? You mean to tell me that MR McDonald can't cough up enough $$ to have complimentary WiFi at his restaurants? Who's paying for all of those playgrounds he puts into his restaurants to entice families to bring their children?? He doesn't charge admission for that!

What's next - bring your own soap/shampoo and towels to your next hotel visit??

You have to have a giftcard or AT&T to get wifi at Starbucks, you are then lmited to 2 hours free.

The Panera by my house has started switching the wifi off at breakfast and Lunch, when I asked why they said people sat all day and surfed without spending any money.

these places lose money by people taking up space which could be used by customers who would spend money. There was a report on NPR news last week saying how coffee stores in NYC were stopping free wifi and it was spreading
