Ok, so WiFi isn't essential at McDonalds - just like paying for your meal via credit card, but I'm not charged for this convenience, so why should I be charged for their WiFi - they already have it readily available and FREE in their rstaruants for their own employees!

Minimum purchase sounds fine, and sort of makes sense. But how long is that free wifi good for? Part of th reason some coffee shops are cutting out free wifi is because people will come in, buy something small, and then sit there ALL day.
The free wifi would be considered a benefit to the employees who work there.
Have you contacted McDonald's to voice your concern and see if they have any plans to offer wifi for free?
Depends on which hotel you stay at... the fast food type... or the make reservations in advance and cough up 300 bucks for the night...
I am sure you ARE charged for the convienence of your credit card. Its built right into their prices. You don't a flush fee when you use the bathroom either...
People using WIFI isan't as mainstream yet as credit and debit cards. When it does become that way, I am sure it will offered for "free". Then you will pay 50 cents more for the big mac.

What does what McD's provides as an employee benefit have to do with what they offer their customers? Their employees probably get free food or food with an employee discount, too, but you wouldn't expect them to do the same for you, true?
As for WiFi - they've done their research and decided that a small group of their customers would like WiFi so they offer it for a fee. If you don't agree with the fee, don't buy WiFi service there.
Better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you are not.
But you're adding layers to the costs for McD's by suggesting limits. Who monitors how long you've been on? One of their employees? A two-hour code that turns off your access? Either way you're making them pay more to monitor the WiFi.
For me, WiFi isn't necessary to draw me into McDonald's & I prefer the current system which keeps their food prices low for their customers but still allows WiFi for those who want it.

Actually I don't really careeither as I don't use wifi either (we're still in the dark ages with ahome pc and cell-phones that don't take pics.) I just feel that McDonald's have been adding alot of fees and such lately. What with the extra $ for sauces (50c each is a little steep I think) the not allowing substitutions on Dollar menu items (or even additions that I'd be willing to pay a little extra for)
My hubby likes the McDouble but he just likes only mayo on it....nope no go. i like the $1 chicken sandwichs but I like cheese added (they used to charge 30c for cheese) now they won't do it at all.
