I think it’s interesting that, up until now, no national cookie manufacturer/retailer has seen fit to approximate the Thin Mint or the Tagalong. For whatever reason, they’ve steered clear of the Girl Scouts’ special cookies. But not Wal-mart. Yet what about the Keebler Fudge shoppe cookies like Grasshopper and Peanut butter filled arent those similar to the GS cookies. Not an exact replica no but very very very similar so I dont see how she can say noone else has went after it.

Okay I see I missed the () it does say [note: As mentioned in comments, there are other thin mint-chocolate wafer cookies on the market. However, no imitation Tagalongs have been spotted. 8.4.09 2:00pm]

Maybe I havent had a tagalong in so long Im thinking wrong but I thought the new peanut butter filled ones were like those.

Anyhooo I hate HUTC b/c I always hit submit before Im done and cant edit lol

Well anyway down with evil Walmart they will have to clearance the cookies down to 99% off because noone will buy them due to ethical reasons and my fat self will go and buy them all at 99% off so they dont go to waste...

Seriously I wonder if they will end up sending the profits of these cookies to the girl scouts if enough people make a big enough stink about it?

This was her actual quote:
I think it’s interesting that, up until now, no national cookie manufacturer/retailer has seen fit to approximate the Thin Mint or the Tagalong. For whatever reason, they’ve steered clear of the Girl Scouts’ special cookies. But not Wal-mart.
And the notes [note: As mentioned in comments, there are other thin mint-chocolate wafer cookies on the market. However, no imitation Tagalongs have been spotted. 8.4.09 2:00pm]

Everything in between those two were my own opinions I dont know why it didnt quote and seperate...but wanted to clarify since mine and hers ran together.

I dont really hate walmart enough (dont like em though) to post a zillion times to one HUTC thread and generally I post once or twice in HUTC and leave it but I feel very strongly Very very strongly about the subject at hand...Cookies!! LOL

Or maybe Im procrastinating so I dont have to clean the house before the air conditioning man gets here.

Im kinda confused about keebler making 60% of the GS cookies. So they make them for the GS but they also make a copy cat version and theres no stink about that?
Dont bite the hand that feeds ya or what?
Walmart should have said these were knock offs if the keebler brand instead of the GS brand called em generic grasshoppers and peanut butter filled.

I dunno Im all for cookies and all for down with Walmart but I find it strange that keebler (and others) have already done this exact thing without persecution. I dont think I spelled that right. Ill come back and make another post just so I can fix my spelling and put off cleaning LOL

Dollar General sells Clover Valley brand cookies that are like Thin Mints, Tagalongs, and Samoas.

Here's the thing I see, I have been a GS leader as well as worked at a GS camp. They don't just sell those cookies to sell them or to do mre arts and crafts, they earn $$ to go to camp and for some of those girls it's the only way they would be able to go. I know camp isn't something they all NEED, but for some of them it is the best thing to get away for a week or so.

I would NOT buy them, and even if they sold the real things in the store (it's been rumored) I wouldn't buy them, and I won't get the DQ stuff either simply because I KNOW what that cookie $$ could do for one little girl, and I would rather pay $3.00 a box more so a little girl can go to camp than put even more $$ in the hands of Corporate America, esp. Wal-Mart

But, that's just me because I've seen the difference it can make.

That's basically what I was going to say. Keebler makes your Girl Scout cookies, so I don't really consider their brand a knock-off.

If they taste anything like the other knock off cookies walmart makes like the marshmallow chocolate ones and chocolate covered grahams then the girl scouts can rest easy-cause their knock offs are awful!!

I voted NO! My daughter is a GS and the $ from each box sold works wonders for these children.

Okay Im confused...cant find anything on google about keebler owning the GS cookie production...Anybody have articles on it?

And why do pps think its okay for keebler to imitate the GS cookies AND profit from them AND sell them all year taking away from the uniqueness but not Walmart just b/c keebler owns the plant that makes GS cookies??

Is it because they support the GS by owning the plant?
Did the keebler version come first? Is that why?...

Im gonna be researching cookies today which is not good since Im on a diet lol

I voted No but $6 /box is quite steep. Maybe the GS should come out with some coupons around cookie time. i almost always miss it.

Maybe a doorhanger that states Cookie time is almost upon us please use this coupon when ordering and for every X amt. of boxes you order, recieve one free.
