You just had to didn't you........umm, were they good????
I was just reading in the paper last night that it is girl scout cookie time again. I need to try to stay away from them this year....but seeing as I never turn a GS away that comes to the door...one better come a knockin'![]()
Actually there are only 2 official bakers for Girl Scout cookies
One is the Little Brownie bakers(they have the rights to the names, Samaos, Do si does, Tagalongs etc) hence the reason some regions have the name Peanut Butter patties etc
Little Brownie Bakers has been baking Girl Scout CookiesŪ for over 30 years. We are licensed by Girl ScoutsŪ of the USA to provide eight varieties of cookies for the annual Cookie Sale including: SamoasŪ, Thin Mints, TagalongsŪ, Do-si-dosŪ, and Trefoils
The other baker: ABC Smart cookie
ABC Bakers is the oldest and most experienced licensed Girl Scout Cookie baker. We became "Official Girl Scout Cookie Bakers" in 1939; just two years after the first sale of commercially baked Girl Scout cookies took place. ABC is part of Interbake Foods LLC, a Richmond, Virginia based manufacturer that has been baking cookies and crackers for 100 years.
Each council can decide each year which baker they chose to go with to sell their cookies from
Less than 1/3 of the cookie money goes to the bakery, the rest is ALL for the Girl Scout concil, troop etc
The local Girl Scout councils actually set the price of the cookies to sell to the public, not the bakery

I was the cookie coordinator for 2 years for the service unit my niece was in so I learned quite a bit of useless information about Girl Scout cookies and I have to say I prefer the taste of the little brownie bakers cookies, but our service unit now sells the ABC Bakers
Good thing, you can buy cookies that the troops can donate to the troops overseas(as in our military) so you can still support the Girl Scouts, support our service men and women with tastes from home, AND not gain weight at the same time![]()

The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
The queen of April Fools was here.
Haha, I haven't tried them yet. I went to Meijer on my lunch earlier in the week to get some frozen things for lunch and picked them up. But I was too busy snacking on the Goldfish Smores I got. So I brought them home with me today to try out. I'll let you guys know how they are!
Maybe this is why a few years back the consistency and look of the Samoas changed a bit...
When I was in Iraq, getting GS cookies was the best thing ever!! EVERYONE loves them and having something from back home is awesome.
At $6 per box through GS and with Walmart trying to get in on their sales, I think I will have to pass on purchasing from either. I could lose a few pounds anyway.

GS cookies have never been more than $3.50/box. At least not in my experience. I buy every year.
Just tried one and I have to say, if I did a blindfolded taste test, I don't know if I could taste the difference. I will have to try it out once I have "real" Samoas in my greedy little hands.
They are $4 a box this year.. my little sister is a scout..
(i've got this strange attachment to the little panic guy.)
