Default was denied Klondike IP today!

I went to publix with my friend( a fellow couponer) for some more pasta, apple eve juice, and klondike bars.

Well the cashier first tells me I cant use two coupons for the apple and eve- I told him I was pretty sure you could use one manu Q and one store Q per item.

Then he looked at the klondike IPs (3) and said, oh, i dont think i can take these either.

mind you, he didnt even ATTEMPT to scan them.

He asked the manager, came back and said " i have good news, and bad news" you can use all the juice coupons, but we cannot accept the klondike coupons.

I asked to speak to the manager, and the manager would not tell me why he couldnt use them.. so I told him ' they are not copies, they are from coupons.com, and each have their own pin and specific background marking- he didnt even look...

he told me he was having problems with printed coupons, and would not accept them. I told him I understand, but I did nothing wrong, and these are valid coupons...and I told him if they didnt I wouldnt shop at this publix anymore ( as my friend had just used that EXACT coupon the day or so before- he ignored that piece of info when we told him)

anyhoo, he said he would take it THIS time, I was so aggravated I wanted to void out the whole order... URGH!

If he was nice about it, and not try to make me feel like a fool, I wouldve been fine. But I was pretty upset, I will never step foot into that publix again.... my usual one is so much nicer, the manager even opens up a lane for me when Im ready to checkout!

    sorry to ramble...
but has anyone heard of publix not taking IPs anymore? Or is it a ymmv kind of thing...

I would call the store manager and speak with him/her, (assuming that wasn't who you spoke with in the store) and talk with him/her about what happened. If that doesn't get you anywhere, I'd call the district manager. I have NEVER had a coupon denied at a Publix store.

Personally, I'd rather have it in writing than trying to remember what to say on the phone and trying to remember EXACTLY what the person on the other end said in response. Writing out the 'play by play' details on Publix.com not only gets your store manager's attention, but their district manager too. Here's the link: Send Publix a Message

I have heard that it is up to the store manager what they accept etc...
We have one store in our area that won't take competitor coupons. So, I just don't shop there when I have competitor coupons.

I will say what other people have said ... Either call or send an email via the link given above. I did that and it went right to the district manager and I got a call from the manager of the store.... We had a very good conversation, I praised them for the things I did like and then said my concerns about the way I felt when I left the store (which on that day was pretty crappy!)

My feeling about PUBLIX is (which by the way I am the biggest cheerleader for!! ) BUT I think that they are one big company but part of their success is to have the managers and district managers be so hands on that they are somewhat AUTONOMOUS! Does that make sense?? They are run as a huge company but really give lattitude to the managers etc... AND They are all about customer service... So If the manager doesn't want your business or can not work with you then go back to the one you like!! I know it sounds so rude BUT they just don't have an across the board policy that they stick too.
If they did it would be more consistent but they might lose some of their personal service perks that each one offers... Does that make sense?

    Anyway... Sorry for rambling!
I will ENCOURAGE you to also send an EMAIL when they do something you LOVE!!
After this is resolved write an email thanking them for the store you do LOVE!! I guarantee that the stores will appreciate it and be happy to see you!

    Hope this helps?!

    thanks you guys...

I have never had a problem with any store except CVS, so I was a little putt off in there. I will send in a message to the link provided.

I only went to that store, bc my friend and I were going together, and that one was closer to her house...

The only IPs that my Publix (That I just love) won't accept are for completely Free items. They will accept a BOGO coupon for an item, but not for a straight out completely free item. And that only applies to IPs. I just love my Publix!

I work for Publix (I'm not a manager of any kind, mind you) and this website was brought to my attention by a customer simply because I was impressed with their savings on a specific order.

Anyway, I do know that for some reason the cashiers at my store have been told not to accept IP coupons. I never thought it was a big deal until I started reading all of the posts on here regarding the money that can be saved with these coupons. I'll ask my manager for an explanation.

Another thing I'd like to leave here is that 90% of the time, the problem with using coupons doesn't lie with your cashier. We get a large number of people who just come through the checkout lines, toss a pile of coupons at the cashiers and if the cashier makes a mistake (i.e. ringing up two manu coupons for one item) the cashier is then reamed out by his or her manager/office staff, and depending on the severity, could lead all the way up to the store manager. The cashier is simply trying to make sure that he/she is doing their job to the best of their ability and in a timely fashion as well. If a problem like that develops again, please take it to a manager immediately as the cashier really isn't at total liberty to make decisions about coupons.

it was the manager that told me he couldnt take them. The cashier brought them to the managers attention, which I understand, I was mroe upset with the way the manager was rude and looked like i was trying to pull one over on him...

Hold on- I was under the impression that Publix had a section on their website that was partnered with coupons.com? I don't have one, so perhaps I'm wrong, but I could have sworn that I printed coupons from there....
