    Default Dear baby product manufacturers...

stop making crappy stuff that is going to get recalled! In the past 2.5 years, we've had the following items recalled:

The crib that we are currently using (recalled today)
    FP Take A along swing
countless toys - and not all for lead paint issues, some breakage issues
    carseat - breaking handle

these are not cheap items to have to "stop using immediately" while we either wait for replacement parts, or return to the store of original purchase for a refund and then have to buy replacement items.

    Thanks, I'd appreciate it! :hectic1:

I agree! I just got the recall email about the crib (that we are also currently using). I'm so mad and honestly those pics freaked me out. My daughter will be sleeping in a pack and play until we find a dependable crib.
When we first bought the crib there was a previous recall for the crib because the bottom fell out, luckily our model wasn't one recalled, but my husband took extra procaution when putting it together anyway. Then in '07 there was another recall for the dropside crib like ours. Looked just like our crib but not the same model number.
It's "funny" that just a few days ago I went to get my daughter out of her crib and I found a piece of her crib on the floor (a pin like screw?) and I told DH we need a new one cause I don't trust it. Then today there is a recall for the dropside again. THAT CRIB IS GONE.
"The firms appear to no longer conduct day to day operations" appears? what does that mean?

---also the baby and toddler floats we use for the pool got recalled today!!!!!!!!!

We are going to use a porta crib for DD until we get the return completed tomorrow. we called the store we purchased it at, and they said bring in the crib for store credit or a new crib.

Ooops. I just sent you a PM THEN read this...sorry. So do you just take it apart and bring it in? Do you have to fill something out? I don't have my original recipt as it was a gift from the family. Sorry to ask you so many questions...I just don't think the people working at my walmart today would have known up from down (I think they were all be flustered with the holiday rush and the fact that they are under 24hr reconstruction). :-)

We have the crib that was recalled too. We bought it from target (online) and took it back to the store. It took them a little while to figure out what they needed to do, but they were great about it and we left with a gift card for the amount we paid for the crib. She's sleeping in the pack and play tonight and we're debating on whether to buy another crib or move DD#4 into a twin bed (or possibly bunk bed with DD#3 since they share a room) and move DD#5 to a toddler bed (she just turned 2).

Oh yeah, we just took it apart and took it in. We didn't have the receipt and we didn't have the drawer that came with it (the one that went under the crib) or the mobile that came with the crib. I didn't have to fill out anything. It was a lot easier than I was expecting! I'd call first though because the first two stores I called were clueless. Thankfully we have several Targets within 20 miles or so :)

We had major drama over returning ours that resulted in a phone call to corporate BEFORE I even actually got to the store after I called to verify what I was told last night and was rather rudely told that the store didn't know how to process the recalled cribs. We ended up getting a gift card for what we paid for the crib. Now we're trying to decide how to spend it (toddler bed or new crib). DD is sleeping in the portable crib for now. I know we won't be buying another dropside crib.

and they (walmart store) tried to make us provide a reciept and a box and then did it as a defective return and took DH's drivers license like they do when you do a return without receipt. I think they messed up there. I don't think we were supposed to have to provide that information according to what corporate told us, but we rarey ever have returns without receipts anyway.

At Target they asked for my license in order to give me the gift card, but she said it wouldn't count towards the $70 returns without a receipt limit (which I wasn't aware they had...I almost always have receipts for returns).

hmm, maybe that was all it was then. They really well not well informed this morning as to how to handle the returns.
