Loose Dogs and POOP in my yard !

Ok , just venting here.....but for crying out LOUD ! Why can People NOT keep their darn Dogs on a Chain/Leash !
We have a neighbor who has 3 dogs, 2 boxers and one mixed Breed. I have called SO MANY times the Animal control on them, the boxers are NOT friendly and the Mutt well he is very skittish towards people but growls at my boxer ( inside my fenced in yard!)
I have talked to these people many times, always gets laughed at ...and told my dogs dont go out of the yard / we are trying to keep them in the yard. WELL let me tell you,,,, this morning I came out and looking out by my Boxer who is trying to jump the fence ( he cant) and their mutt is pooping by MY STRAWBERRYS !!!!! Are you freaking kidding me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nobody wants to do anything here, not the Animal control ( Unless I catch the dog itself and KEEP they wont even come out!!) And the Owners are so stupid I can keep talking to them till I am blue in the face!

I mean, we spend over a $ 1000 probly trying to make our front yard look nice and a place you would want to be with little bushes and berrys and so on......and we cant sit outside in fear of these Dogs or the land mines they leave us!

Why is the Law not doing anything about this?
I was told they are not mean dogs/ till they bite someone???!! Are you kidding me???? Come out here when I call you and see how they chase the Kids on the bikes, or People have to stop on the road because these dogs wont move off the road !
I was told by the Sheriff "stay in the car till they are gone" when I called them cause I could not GET OUT of my car without these Boxers pouncing on my Car !! ( this was in the middle of summer with Ice cream in the Car!!)
Why do we have to put up with this? We pay tax's and all..dont we have the RIGHT to sit in OUR yard without being run off inside / walking in dog minds?

I am so sick of this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand your frustration. Except our neighbor walks her dog and lets it do it's business in our yard. The law doesn't work unless they want to. We live in a rural area and have heard every excuse from "it's not really an emergency", "can't you deal with it yourself" or "we just don't have the man-power or resources to come to your town". My only suggestion is to find a city board member and demand that something be done. It took a "group" of people here to complain at a city council meeting with pictures and documented incidents to get two boxers here pinned up. I think that it is crap that law enforcement won't do their job until someone is seriously hurt.

Yup were out in the Country too, and I DO understand dogs get loose but this is not just a ONE time thing....
I took Pictures of the 2 pooping in my flower bed...and growling at ME thru my screen door.... they would not even LOOK at them !!!!

Well i called animal controll again told them I WILL continue to call till someone does something about it.

County commission would be a good place to start calling as well...find out who your county commissioners are and start bugging them to death!

Don't give up. Remember that we elect the officials and I would start placing calls with the city council, the mayor, the Sheriff and if you still get no where call the county prosecutor. Explain that it is an issue of safety that animal control or the Sheriff's office will deal with. The city council here had to go through the prosecutors office to set up fines and legal action against the owners of the dog. One fine the owners got the dogs tied up, if it happens again, they get another fine and lose the dogs.

It's better than coming home anf the lttle mongrels knocker over your trash eating the dirty diapers dragging them all over your yard.then your out there looking like your in a prison detail clean up crew(flashback).Our puppy stays on her land why can't yours(bad neighbor)

Keep going up higher and higher in the chain of command. Document everything, take pictures each time there is an incident so that you have proof.

The law here states that I can shoot my neighbors dog who keeps getting in my yard (and this dog killed one of my dogs). I hate that it would ever have to come to that and I don't own a gun nor would I ever. But my own dogs and children are not safe in our own fenced in back yard and it ticks me off to no end that they have not taken that dog away.

Ok. Here's my suggestion on the "pooping in the strawberries." (Note - I guess I am a little mean spirited here - LOL)

I would pick up any poop outside of the owner's property and leave it right in front of their door on their porch with a small note saying "your dogs left this at my house, just thought you might want it back." Hopefully they'll get the point.

As for keeping the dogs way from you so you can enjoy your yard, I have no good suggestions. Can you maybe invest in one of those invisible fences. Would that keep them out? Or maybe buy a dog whistle and blow it everytime they come near.

I am a total animal lover, so I would never suggest doing anything that would hurt the dogs. I don't think the invisible fence or whitsle hurt them, just annoy them.

Keep trying to call the local agencies. Remember the squeaky wheel get the oil.

Bad dogs are the result of bad dog owners who do not train them properly.

I was SSOOO going to come here to post a similar situation the other day!!! Our new neighbors have a dog (and while he's not huge by any means, medium sized "mixed breed" dog) he does terrify my son since he's about as tall as he is. Any way, I've talked to adults at the neighbors home, and this dog continues to come out and roam the neighborhood.
He was out the other day scaring ds and then I saw him trying to follow a neighbor's girl to school. So when I came back from taking my dd to school, I shut him in my back yard adn called animal control. BUT... of course he found a way to squirm out (we have a gate but no animals ourselves so it's not completely secure, I will have to work on this) so he got out of that one.
I have been known to call our Mayor's office about trash/recycling not being picked up, etc. Not that I really expect the actual Mayor to call me, unless it gets to that point, but these calls usually get some results. Keep calling!! I know I will persist with my medium nuisance dog, I definitely would be even more "persistant" if it was a growling boxer keeping me pinned in my car on my own property!!!
