Health Care Reform or Government Payday for Insurance Companies?

There are SO many ways the insurance companies discriminate against individuals (and families), it disgusts me. For instance, I don't know how many people here know this or have been affected by this, but individuals seeking a personal health care policy (not through their employer) are subject to limitations that those under a group policy are not. If you weigh over a certain amount, you can NOT obtain a policy for ANY price no matter how much you're willing to pay.

Say you're an overweight person with a middle class income...you make too much to qualify for Medicaid, but not enough to pay all your medical expenses out of pocket...and your employer does NOT offer insurance. Good luck finding a policy on your own. But yet that SAME insurance company will have no problem insuring you through a group policy. ????

I think recall that if you were overweight you could have problems getting a job (because of insurance- employers afraid of the group rate going up) or getting on an employer's plan. I think there was a law passed about the employer plan.

Yes, that was mean and I would like it deleted. My aim is not to attack an individual at all. I thought some of the comments from this person were quite innappropriate, especially in light that some in the discussion were talking about personal problems with access to health care and were trivialized by situations compared to hotel rooms and international moves which are not life threatening. It's still mean, just toned down mean.

Mean? what you fail to understand from this comparison that any business owners, be that hotel operators with their team of employees or doctors and people working in their office, have own financial obligations. When your employer will say: 'Because XYZ patient didn't pay I do not have money to pay you, but want you still come to work', how would you take it?

No, it was not agressive, but rude and nasty, spoke tons about real you, not what you said you care for. If you think someone else's comments are inappropriate you state so, but name calling? :shrug7:
I also can say a lot about "balanced article", about "international moves which are not life threatening", about "logical discussions", but I do not.
