    Default Hard to open packaging

I'm an able bodied 40-something female and I'm amazed at all the product packaging that I find it hard to open. Cereal bags that split open because you have to apply so much pressure to pull apart the sides. Plastic beverage bottles (especially Hawaiian Punch) that I have to pound on the cap with a spoon to get it to loosen up. Plastic gum containers (Mentos) that I have to about use a hacksaw to get it open. I know companies want their products to be fresh and safe, but it shouldn't take superhero strength to get things open!! Anyone else have this problem? What products do you have trouble opening?

How about when you buy electronics? Such as a DVD, Ipod accessories, or anything like that? I had purchased an FM transmitter for my Ipod so I could use it in my car, and was so exited that I wanted to use it as soon as I got into the car.........took me 20 minutes of trying to get through that stupid plastic that has no beginning and no end to it. I actually had to burn it with my lighter so that I could get into it. Yes, I know, I could have waited until I got home and then used scissors.....but I wanted to listen to how it sounded before I left the parking lot.

OMG kids toys are the worse anymore. They come with a million plastic coated wires that you have to untangle and slip through the toy itself. Really a PITA when you have a small child saying, "Hurry up. I want to play with my toy." LOL

I had to call Classico one time, because the jar wouldn't open. I have a jar of Sadie's salsa, that was suppose to remind me of home, I can't open it.

I just bought Marley & Me and that was tough too.

Growing up, it was alway run hot water over the top of a tilted jar for a few minutes. Then attempt to loosen or my mom would hand the jar to one of her sons or my dad. Later in the food service business, I learn to use the back side of a chef knife. Hold the jar upright, usually the gallon size, on a flat surface and proceed to tap the lid with the knife. Don't act you're chopping wood or swing wildly.

If one is to open something in the car or lack a good pair of shears, go buy a box cutter. Avoid the disposable type and go with the one you find the stockers use at the grocery stores.

ITA!!! It takes forever to get the darn things out of the packages, scissors cant even cut most of the stupid wires use - and then after all the $$ you pay for it, and time you spend getting it out of the box, in most cases you need to assemble it.

After all that, and the whining from the impatient children......makes me crazy and grumpy!!!

Turn it upside down and tap the lip of the jar on the counter.
I take a spoon tip and slip it under the jar lid sometimes to release the vaccum. I'm dangerous with a knife. LOL

I generally open the toys and remove all the wires before I wrap it. That makes it much easier on Christmas morning when the kids outnumber the adults.

I've run into this several times and I always write the company about it. Just yesterday I had to use a knife to open a big box of goldfish crackers. It is in a container shaped like a milk carton, really shouldn't be so tough to open. I appreciate tamper proof and mouse proof, but they shouldn't be completely consumer proof either!

OMG, ITA! Who wants to wait until they get home if they can use a new electronic right away! This happened to me when I purchased an AUX cord to plug my iPod into my radio... took me SOOO long to open!
