And just what list will you go on if you don't support it?
I won't be answering the door.
I have CDO. It's like OCD, but in alphabetical order, as it should be.

You'll go on the list with all the people who possess "subversive literature" (like the Constitution?) and who supported third party candidates.

    Ummm...

During election seasons, plenty of people go door to door, make phone calls, etc...

I don't really see how this is any different. THere are HUGE problems in America right now. 1/2 the country doesn't watch the news or follow most of it (unlike us junkies here in HUTC, lol).

If the President wants to make a full force effort to include as many Americans as possible, and to rally support, then WHY NOT??
We b***h when we feel that the gov't leaves us out, and we b***h when they try to include us.
President Obama doesn't have to do this. Really, he doesn't. THe fact that he CARES enough to try to get the whole freakin country involved is something that should be commended. Not NIT PICKED and criticized.
But, I suppose some would prefer the old fashion good old boys who prefer that the country be run by the philosophy of "I'm the decider", rather than "hey america, I need YOU"...

This is a REALLY stupid thing to complain about. Really stupid.

Like many PP said, DON'T ANSWER THE DOOR! Or, tell the organizers that you DON'T support it. Whatever. I have done PLENTY of door to door campaigns, and we always report on responses. Pos and Neg.

This thread proves something. President Obama could cure aids, stop cancer, and make the world rainbows and ponies, and someone is STILL going to b***h!

And I suspect they probably aren't fully disclosing what Obama's "new plans" entail--they make the agenda sound all nice and warm and fuzzy and helpful (remember, they're from the government and they're here to HELP.) But what they should be mentioning is that the same government who bungles everything it touches now wants to look after YOUR and YOUR CHILDREN'S healthcare. And don't get me started on education--the same government that messed it up now wants to fix it. This whole new plan doesn't really inspire a lot of confidence in me...I'll think I'll pass on signing that petition.
Well he was a community organizer, wasn't he?? We should have seen this comin'.

Its been made pretty clear on this site and others that I've been on that people only want the government in their lives when they need/want something from them.

There has been many a thread posted where people are in favor of food stamps, disability checks, wic, natural disaster assistance, tax stimulus checks, and so on. Those are the posts where the government becomes people's best friends and everyone wants them in their lives.

When the government does something like this, reaching out to people and trying to inform them and ask for something from them in return they all balk and complain about too much government, big bad government, etc.

I think I killed the other thread I posted this in, but it fits the reply:

The government's role is clearly laid out in the preamble to the Constitution:

    1. "To form a more perfect union;"
    2. "To establish justice;"
    3. "To insure domestic tranquillity;"
    4. "To provide for the common defense;"
    5. "To promote the general welfare;"
    6. "To secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity."

The pledge is to support Obama's ideas. Some of his ideas are clearly unconstitutional. For instance, the mandatory volunteerism for education. That violates the 13th Amendment. We have the inalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And he supports the killing of innocent lives through abortion. Food stamps, disability checks, wic, natural disaster assistance, tax stimulus checks, and so on, all fall under #5 above. He wants America to support his budget plan and bailouts. Bail out us, while our children will be put in bondage? There goes #6 for sure, if not more...

Oh yeah. He'll go make the world all filled with ponies and then his "zombies" would come door to door asking us to "volunteer" (mandatory servitude!) to clean up after them!

    Sheesh.

Well, I for one, DON'T complain when the government "leaves me out." I wish every day the government would leave me out more. I don't think the government (or their minions--I mean CARING VOLUNTEERS) should be going around door trying to "include" people. If people want to volunteer why don't they do something that REALLY helps people, like serving meals to the homeless or building a house for a needy person? Or why don't they get a job doing something productive for society instead of going around knocking on people's doors bothering them. Most people already know plenty about Obama's plans and yet still don't support them. I guess the government thinks they just need more encouragement (or maybe some re-education).

This kind of crap is exactly the thing to be complaining about. We can't pay for the programs we already have in place and the government wants to do more. Why? Because they CARE--they just CARE...so darn much! Well caring doesn't pay the bills! This country is getting run into the ground because of "caring" and I wonder why doesn't anyone care about that?

You got that right....there is plenty of #5 going around this country. That is my point. No one complains about government involvement in their lives when they are benefiting from #5 now do they?

Our children are not going to be put into bondage! I'm still not understanding what the big hang up here is. There are plenty of graduation requirements that are far more idiotic than this. How about that little foreign language requirement? Real constitutional, making my kid learn to speak another language or they don't graduate. How does my daughter being forced to take woodshop as a graduation requirement help anyone. I can see where that benefits the welfare of our country far better then getting out there and helping your fellow man.

As far as the abortion topic. That has nothing to do with this so don't even go there. Its none of your business what other people do with their bodies anymore than it is their business what you do with yours.
