Gimme a break!!! (Stimulus rant!)

So here's a quote from the Yahoo homepage this morning:

"But broadly speaking, the package is the right size, it is the right scope, and it has the right priorities to create 3 to 4 million jobs, and to do it in a way that lays the groundwork for long-term growth," Obama said at a ceremony in the White House East Room.

And here's my take from that bunch of yada yada...

Broadly speaking = I'm not getting into specifics because they'll bog me down.

the package is the right size = would that be the 800B or the over 1 TRILLION version?

to create 3-4 million jobs = and that would be WHEN? and WHAT KIND? of jobs? And how much would they pay? And how many hoops would one have to jump through to actually land one of those jobs???

"lays the groundwork for long-term growth" = but doesn't follow it up with anything.

Not only that but these are NOT stop-gap measures--these spending debacles have no backstop!!! It's not like these programs will only be there until the economy shows recovery. The Dems have no intention of curtailing any of this spending.


And before I get skewered by anyone, I know that every politician up there is probably guilty of double-speak, but right now the party in power is the one that we have to deal with and boy it sure is deep up there!

I've always been a person who tells it exactly as I see it, not like I think someone wants to hear it. I don't win popularity contests sometimes, but most folks know where I stand even if they don't agree with me.

How I wish our politicians, from ALL parties, could just be for real. :sad:

And while they're up there hemhawing around and doing a whole bunch of nothing, I wish they'd let me hold their wallets for a while. Wonder how they'd feel if I flushed their dollars down the toilet like they seem to love to do mine???

*shakes head* it just makes me sick and sad. There is nothing that will immediately help people and help out those already displaced. Those of us without work and not on unemployment are SOL and nothing they are proposing seems to be an answer to me at all.

What are thy thinking???? I saw the news yesterday (that isn't getting reported a whole lot) is that our country will be BORROWING THAT MONEY FROM CHINA!!!! Or any other country that will lend it. If we aren't careful our grandchildren may be speaking Chinese if you get my drift.....scary times!

Like I said, this is not an Obama-hate post. I guess it's more like a politician disgust post. Truth is, they

1. Don't understand what's going on
2. Don't know what to do about it
3. Don't know who to ask about it
4. Don't live like regular folks so they have NO IDEA what it's like to be unemployed.
5. Have to do something so they'll remain in office in a couple of years.


Therefore we must spend bazillions of money we don't have, and do it RIGHT NOW!

Why does every seem to think this is a new thing?

Corrupt government stems back to the late 1700's. The problem is everyone is so busy believing they have to buy into parties. If not one registered voter voted at the next election, things would change fast.

The government depends on people to believe what it tells the people; much like the SCOTUS.

I am not anti-government. I believe it needs to be rebuilt. We are seeing classism at its worst. Those who have higher education at the better schools will suffer little; those who do not will bare a nefarious existance.

Unfortunately, as discussed in another thread, people have no idea how to coupon nor stockpile. No one saved. Now the axe has fallen and people have royally screwed themselves.

I hate to break it to you all but when you say "the government" that's us. All of us. So, that's not some separate entity that operates independently of us, that's the outcome of the decisions that we make.

There is 74 BILLION dollars missing from the Big 3 bail out, they don't know where it is!
