Many of us are very careful with our money, so for me purchasing a new car makes no sense. I do not want to own something that never increases in value. Perhaps we could add a credit for used car buyers. Where is the incentive to use what we currently have? The only benefit I can see is hopefully there will be more used cars on the market so we might see a price drop.

Senate votes to give a tax break to new car buyers - Yahoo! News

    How do others view this?
Well it's really great that they are offering this tax break. Unfortunately, the people that need the help aren't going to be buying new cars.. or houses to get that tax break ! They are losing their houses and having their cars reposessed so this whole thing is not helping the people that need it.

I think what exemplifies all this nonsense is that Obama was addressing the Congressional Dems at a Congressional Dem retreat in Williamsburg, VA - paid by us, the taxpayers.

It's all ridicilious (very badly misspelled). What should have been done was a survey to ask the american public what would help and then evaulate those replys. Not come up with a bunch of nonsense that will do nothing for those that are hurting and help those that are not.

If not surveys, something that really got the publics opinions about what really is going on. This stiumlas package is not helping any of us.

Well if all this talk coming from the Hill ticks ya all off, do YOU have a better plan? If so get on the phone, send an email. Do something other than bi*(h about it. Nothing anyone comes up with is gonna help each and every person. It's simply not. There's no way to make every single person happy in this country.
What will help everyone is to stop with the anger and the hate and start finding and seeing the positive things. And yes, there are some. And before you say but but but....my husband lost his job. Unemployment is a mess and the wait is up to 8 weeks for us to know one or the other. In the mean time we have a house payment, van payment, electric bill, gas bill, and food to buy. Only we aren't sure how or where. Give the people up there that everyone voted in a chance to fix what has taken a lot longer than 3 weeks to screw up.

    I know!

Let's express disgust at the NEW party in power for doing the exact thing the LAST party did!

And let's throw the word "messiah" around a few times for good measure!

This is why I voted for Nader. Freaking democrans and republicrats.... I certainly can't tell a difference from this end!

Wouldn't it be nice if someone up there on capitol hill would SHOW how this thing is supposed to work? And tell us where the money is coming from? Yeah, I know, from us, but I mean right now -- where are we borrowing the money from? And at what rate?

Other countries' economies are going down the toilet -- which country is doing so well that it can loan us the $$?

I don't really care what party is running this mess -- I just think it should be some folks who know how to run a household on the money they have coming in without borrowing themselves into oblivion. Over leveraging is what got us here to begin with -- both on the part of main st and wall st. So now we can borrow ourselves out of this mess?

This topic is giving me more gray hairs.

btw mama, that comment about the Messiah was not directed at you. Just thought I'd add that.

And to another PP--corruption? Really? Haven't the Dems only been in power for about a whole 20 seconds? Isn't it a bit early to start saying corruption? Where is this corruption documented?

I really should know better and stay out of this thread, lol. I just find it extremely interesting that for the past several years, every time an anti-Bush post or thread went up, we were all told that "he's the president, we must respect him, blah blah blah." Now Obama has been in office for all of 3 weeks, and my how the tone has changed.
Oh, I definitely mean ALL of the fear mongering, including Bush.

While the Republican retreat, which took place a couple weeks before, was paid for...
by RNC funds, not by the taxpayers.
