I am getting cabin fever. I am so tired of my family being sick!!! We usually never get sick but DS had pneumonia, then DH got it and now I have come down with something. It really sucks when both parents are sick. Even though my kids are 12 and 9 and can pretty much take care of themselves I feel bad that I am stuck laying in bed all day! I know they are so bored. I can't wait till things get back to normal and DH can go back to work!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It rained the day DD, Emmalia, was born on June 30th.
It rained on her first birthday party- I planned a HUGE outdoor party, we did a crawfish boil, had 60 people come over and almost all of the guests got stuck under a shade tent in our backyard as it down-poured for about an hour & a half.
It rained on her second birthday party. Again, we planned an outdoor party but this time we incorporated our wrap-around porch in the set up with decorations. The rain made everything so muggy and prevented us from playing any of the games I planned.
Emmalia is turning 3 next week. We booked a safari tour at the local Wildlife place for this Friday... and it is supposed to rain... all day long.
Ugh. I am soooo frustrated. And the freaking tour is non refundable.
    UGH.

It's hot outside! Not only is it hot...but the humidity is outrageous! Normally, on my day off, I wouldn't care. My husband is an HVAC tech, so my house is always comfy! But, my boss scheduled a meeting today. A mandatory meeting. An hour before the meeting, she called to tell me that the conference room was being used, so they were moving the meeting to the courtyard. Yep...and OUTSIDE courtyard! No kidding!!!

    So...the "good news"...

When I got there, she told me it had been moved to the HR director's office. Picture this...the office can comfortably hold about 4 or 5 people. There are 12 people, PLUS our supervisor, PLUS the HR director attending this meeting. And...the AC doesn't work very well in her office.

And to top things off...it only lasted 30 minutes!! So, I'm a sweaty mess, and I wasted gas to get paid for 30 minutes! Sadly, that's only $4.15. I think I spent that much on the gas to get there and back!

OK...home now...back in my nice cool house!! Ahhhhhhh!!!!

Why, my child? Why did you just insist on screaming, yelling, carrying on, throwing things at your door, kicking your door (the kind where you lay on your back and just hammer on the door with both feet), and resort to yelling "mommy, open the door" like I had you trapped in there or something? You're 5. You're capable of opening your door. You're capable of coming out of your room on your own.

You're just being stubborn. You're mad at me for *your* choices that had consequences (yelling at me and giving me attitude - the consequence of which you know is to go to your room until you are ready to change your attitude/temper).

What precipitated this outburst - You got mad at me when I came to talk to you and ran to your closet, faced the corner, and covered your ears. I get that you weren't ready to talk to me yet. So I left. I was letting you have your time to cool down. I understand, I really do. We have the same personality.

There was no need for you to behave the way you just were while I was in the shower. You know fully well you could come out of your room and talk to me like the sweet child I know you are. It was your choices that got your sent to your room in the first place, it was your choice that kept you in your room!

To quote a line from a favorite movie of mine "I'm tired of feeling like the wicked step-mom in a fairy story no matter what I do!" (fyi, I am not a step-mom, that just the quote) I think it's going to be a long summer.

Well I know I said yesterday that I couldn't wait until DH was better and could go back to work but I MISS HIM!!! I finally went to the Dr. today and I have pneumonia too. DH is at work so its just me and the kids. I do not have the energy to get out of bed and I know the kids are so sick of being stuck in the house. What a crappy summer this has been so far. Everyone has been sick I am gonna go crazy if I can't get out of the hosue soon. I hate being cooped up.

Tired of eating fast food too!! We are so low on everything and I need to get to the store soon. I know I could send DH but he always spends way too much, plus using coupons frustrates him.

DH informed me...as he was falling asleep... that our next door neighbor (whom he works with) told him our neighborhood has had five break-ins & theft over the course of the past 4-5 weeks. WTH?! We live in a very nice neighborhood, house prices range from $300k to $1mil. The residents are probably 75% middleaged-older people, and 25% younger couples. There isn't an HOA, but we do have a Civic Association for the neighborhood. And those members are VERY active- they pick up trash daily, buy playground equipment & upkeep the maintenance at our small neighborhood park, they have major say in what businesses are being developed around us (our area is booming, lots of new stores & projects). Yet, nobody has taken the time to alert the residents of our community. It's been going on for weeks and the same people who send out monthly newsletters about Easter Egg hunts and protesting a new Walmart hasn't informed anyone?!

DH said all he knew was the break ins were happening during the day when nobody was home and they were towards the back of the neighborhood, away from the traffic. Another thing is, one row of houses backs up to a canal and another row of houses backs up to a river...these people committing the crimes have limited escape routes, so there is speculation that it is neighborhood teens... but still...no warning or alert or information?!?!

I know I am just rambling...but I am a little shocked that our nice, close neighborhood is experiencing the crimes to begin with..but even more so surprised that nothing has been sent out about it. I plan to call the area Justice of the Peace tomorrow (he lives 6 houses down) as well as the Sheriffs office and the head of the Civic Association. All I can say is I hope nobody tries to break into our home... they'd regret it.
