If you can't see how a $25k a year job over 5 years is MUCH better for the economy than a tiny check that won't pay off one of my medical bills then you've failed at "the big picture"...thank goodness some of us understand the world on a larger scale and don't base my politics on the Good Ol' American Standard of "I want it all, and I want it now."
What the gov. is about to do is bankrupt the country. Why do so many people still have this credit card mentality of "I want a quick fix, don't care where the money comes from, we'll worry about it later".

Where do you think the money for this bill comes from, the sky? It comes from one (or more) of three places. Taxes, borrowing from other countries, and printing money. Let's look at each option...

Taxes - yes, you may have a new $25,000/yr. job, but you won't take much of that home after taxes anymore.

Borrowing - do you think that money never comes due? They just hand it over with no intention of getting it back? Sorry to burst that bubble, but that's not how it works. ALL credit comes due.

Printing money- If printing money was the answer, the fed. reserve could just print money day/night continuously and hand it over to every American. Want a million dollars? O.k., we'll print that for you! What happens then? YOUR DOLLAR ISN'T WORTH A THING!!! As it is, your dollar is worth the equivalent of about .03. You want to see inflation run rampant? Print more money. As it is, they've already been printing more and more money and I've personally already seen quite a bit of inflation at the grocery store.

The truth is, and NO American wants to hear this... the answer to this problem is to DO NOTHING! Let all the bad debt liquidate. Yes, things will get worse, much worse, but only for a short time. Then the rebuilding begins and things will go back to normal. What we're doing now, is prolonging the aching. The "benefits", if any, will be negligable and largely artificial.

I have been reading lately that they are calling this stimulus bill an "Obamanation!"

Japan tried to fix their housing market by doing a stimulus package 3 times that involved infostructure..it didn't work! Why do they think it will work here?

As much as I agree with you, can you imagine what's gonna happend if Obama will come out and say: " Our best cource of action is sit it out"? He might be in the history again, now as the shortest served president..

The fact of the matter is that nothing Obama does (or ANY president period) will satisfy people. Whether it be no stimulus plan, an out of control one we have now, or a more reasonable one we need, no one will be happy. And really, who exactly has the right answer for fixing this mess anyway? Maybe President Bush was right to not do a whole lot about it in his remaining days. Which is worse, doing nothing, or doing the wrong thing? I might have to give Bushie a little teensy bit of credit there, lol.

True, it is not possible to please everybody.
IMO, it's not about this plan working or not, it is assurances that it will work.
Remember that old tale about wise man agreeing to teach mule how to talk? The king gave him $1000 and 10 years to teach mule how to talk. The wiseman agreed, even knowing the mule will never talk. "In 10 years may things could happends: the mule will die, the king will die, or I can die too"..
Obama likely will not be turning around economy in his 4 years, but will have attempt credits for the next term..

I get the same thing when I write mine (if they respond) - "I agree with what you said" whether it's what I said or not. My favorite was writing to then Senate majority leader Frist vehemently opposing something he was for and getting a letter back saying how much he appreciated my agreeing with his position. Got me off paying attention to politics for a while because what was the point?

My local guys listen and respond. So I started paying attention and writing nationally again.
